Ralph Nader announced this morning on Meet the Press that he would be entering the race on behalf of the Green Party for the office of President.

This 74 year old loon promises to siphon off a lot of Democratic voters from Obama or Clinton.

Against Gore and Kerry? Sure.

Clinton? Yeah.

But Obama's already got the kids in this race.. Nader's going to have a tough time getting Anyone to listen this time around..

All the same, it's always fun to watch the Left eat their own.

I'd like to see Ralph debate Barack, mainly for the reason elucidated by Elgalad.

Going after the powerful Kucinich bloc.

A lesson in the success of third party candidacies.

Actually, I'm all for it. The 1-5% who vote for Nader won't vote for the Democrat nominee.

Sun Feb 24, 2008<O:p</O:p
WASHINGTON - Ralph Nader on Sunday announced a fresh bid for the White House, criticizing the top contenders as too close to big business and dismissing the possibility that his third-party candidacy could tip the election to Republicans.
The longtime consumer advocate is still loathed by many Democrats who accuse him of costing Al Gore the 2000 election.
Nader said most people are disenchanted with the Democratic and Republican parties due to a prolonged Iraq war and a shaky economy. He also blamed tax and other corporate-friendly policies under the Bush administration that he said have left many lower- and middle-class people in debt. <O:p</O:p
"You take that framework of people feeling locked out, shut out, marginalized, disrespected," he said. "You go from Iraq, to Palestine/Israel, from Enron to Wall Street, from Katrina to the bungling of the Bush administration, to the complicity of the Democrats in not stopping him on the war, stopping him on the tax cuts."<O:p</O:p
Nader, who turns 74 later this week, announced his candidacy on NBC's "Meet the Press."
In a later interview with The Associated Press, he rejected the notion of himself as a spoiler candidate, saying the electorate will not vote for a "pro-war John McCain." He also predicted his campaign would do better than in 2004, when he won just 0.3 percent of the vote as an independent.<O:p</O:p
"This time we're ready for them," said Nader of the Democratic Party lawsuits that kept him off the ballot in some states.<O:p
Democratic candidates Barack Obama and Hillary Rodham Clinton quickly sought to portray Nader's announcement as having little impact.
"Obviously, it's not helpful to whomever our Democratic nominee is. But it's a free country," said Clinton, who called Nader's announcement a "passing fancy."
Obama dismissed Nader as a perennial presidential campaigner. "He thought that there was no difference between Al Gore and George Bush and eight years later I think people realize that Ralph did not know what he was talking about," Obama added.

I can't tell you how happy I am to read this news... I mean, Nader has become a tradition in presidential politics... I was afraid he had lost the fire... Welcome back Ralph - Take you seat amongst the candidates and I hope to see you debating the Pubs and Dems after the conventions have settled on their candidates...

Pass the popcorn, please... :munch: We may as well enjoy ourselves at this Carnival of Doom...

-- OK. So how fast will Democrats start blaming their loss on him in this year's election. Any guesses? How many months before the election will they begin blaming him for their loss?

ADMIN EDIT: If you want to see something from DU, go there with the link. We don't need their stuff here.:sheeple: (http://journals.democraticunderground.com/top10/326)

Ralph Nader may be an idiot, but he's no conservative. Come to think of it, neither is John McCain (at least, not anymore), nor is Joe Lieberman (who once made the list).

A lot of their stuff is hard to find since some of their pages (like the Top 10 list) are very long. Links are sometimes insufficient, especially for those who don't want to go there themselves. In any case, everthing that I'm posting is of extreme liberals attacking their own kind.

Laz said:Ya know I had completely forgotten about Paul...:D He's all but gone already and will be by the time Nader enters a debate in the general election...

It ain't over, 'til it's over, Laz. The convention isn't until September and nominees and platform are decided at National Conventions, not in the media.

Be patient: "It's a long-long time, from May to December, but the days grow short, when you reach September." Golly, it's over two months 'til May arrives.

Think about it - if you're able.

Figured it was.

Maybe learn a bit of both ebonics and jive.

After all, with the prospect of a particular male Democrat possibly reaching the White House, it could become a useful skill - maybe pick up a few bucks as a translator?

I'm curious what party Nader will run under this time, since Cynthia McKinney is already the Green Party candidate?Well, there's always Peace & Freedom (http://peaceandfreedom.org/home/). However, it may be just a California party; I don't know if it's affiliated with any national organization. I guess if all else fails, Ralph could try to join the Communist Party USA (http://www.cpusa.org) (which, like P&F, is anti-capitalist); otherwise, he'll have to run as an independent.

Hey, if Ron Paul and Ralph Nader are going to have a debate, they need to invite Dennis "Area 51" Kucinich as well.

The first question needs to be something like:

in Star Trek the television show, Episode #303 - The Paradise Syndrom - "An encounter with an alien machine gives Kirk amnesia, and he forgets that he was trying to save the planet; he accepts a position of honor among a local tribe and marries an Indian princess, but when meteors begin to fall, he and his wife are punished for his inability to stop the disaster."

Question:
If you were President and aliens gave YOU amnesia - would you forget to save the planet? And should your wife be punished for your inability to stop the disaster?

Tough questions yes - but this is politics after all.

I'd have liked to have seen that question asked of Bill Clinton.
