Mitt Romney is down, but he might not be out.
Romney suspended his campaign for the Republican presidential nomination after a disappointing showing on Super Tuesday, and has endorsed John McCain for the GOP nod.
But Romney’s son Josh says it’s “possible” his father might rejoin the race as a candidate for vice president or for president if McCain’s campaign stalls.

 Hey, Mitt, it doesn't work that way. Just ask Ross Pea-rot.

This is not news.

I remember that Mitt "suspended" his campaign and lent his support to McCain -- but he didn't withdraw.

If McCain continues to motor along as he has been, Mitt will stay on the sidelines. But if McCain has a catastrophic meltdown (either politically or health-wise), he is in position to get back in.

To me, that is a pretty sensible position.

However, even if McCain suddenly collapsed, Huckabee's continued running would spoil a Romney return. It is possible that both Huckabee and Romney are preparing for the same thing, but pursuing two different strategies.

I wish Fred would have gotten in the first time.

Romney should be prepared. McCain might have a stroke while attacking some more conservatives in order to defend Obama.
