The stray who came to my door hoping for safety got his very own home and loving family.

They have three children and a big house with a big yard. He got a new squeaky. He jumped in their car, like he had done it a million time holding his new squeaky in his mouth. I am so happy that this poor abused dog who had suffered so much in his short life now has a forever home.

Kathy, that is absolutely FANTASTIC! You were a blessing in this animal's life, and now he is a blessing to his new family ... way to share the love :claps:

Nice to hear some good news for a change! Nice work, Kathy, for finding our four legged friend a good home.

Good to hear. When we recently adopted our latest rescue dog, my wife had to warn me numerous times that I wasn't allowed to have them all.

Sorry to revive this thread, but it was still on the front page. I'm probably gonna be gettin a dog soon, my mom wants to get it from a breeder and wants it to be a boston terrier (because she grew up with them) I'm pretty sure shes really missing being a kid and has a ton of stuff going on. Any recommendations on breeds to get too? If we have 2 dogs one of them will be from a rescue. I'm really happy what you did Kathy, its really great.

Once again my stupid-mindedness came into play, I read the post dates wrong.

That makes FIVE dogs, and four cats in the last 12 months.

The stray pit bull
The chihuahua that was being used as a football
A min pin
A poodle that was brought in for grooming and abandoned here
A stray really tiny chihuahua.
Four kittens left on the doorstep.

And one old pit bull that was just plain lost. The owner showed up a day later.

I need a rest.

Wait, a Chihuahua used as a football?

Kathy I can relate. I live on a hill overlooking a public lake. For some reason that seems like a ideal location to dump your pet if you are a cretin. Since I moved here in Aug 2001, we have helped rehome at least 7 dogs and kept one. (We have 5 dogs total). Have adopted 3 stray kitties, I am talking about well socialized cats here, someone loved them enough to keep them tame, THEN dumped them...
It is exhausting, and expensive. However, I told God long ago that when he put one of his creatures in my path that needed help I would do my best. That includes helping turtles cross the highway during the annual suicide--I mean migration, in spring.
Thank YOU for being one of those that DON'T look the other way......
