How'd you come up with "brilliantLiberal" for a screen name anyway?
A number of years ago I became interested in political chatrooms. Many of those who posted in the chatrooms were completely incognitive. I eventually found a group in FTR1 with whom I could get along. I was told that I was too smart to be a liberal (which I expected from a conservative chat room). Naturally, I told them I wasn't just smart, I was brilliant. It was sort of a thumb-in-the-eye statement. One of them said there were two words you would never hear together; "brilliant" and "liberal." A few hours later, BrilliantLiberal was my new screen name.

BL seems more like an advocate of old-school liberalism than of the modern corruption of it. He and I have had our disagreements, but he's ... well, brilliant (almost as brilliant as me :biggrin: ). It's satisfying to encounter one such as he.

He's one of the few liberals I respect.
But, he must have some new liberalism in him. He did win only by one vote just like Carter won by 50.1%.
