Hey, I was cleaning stuff, and one thing led to another long story short, I think I found my grandfathers American flag.. do you get one when you retire from the Air Force or something? Any history behind these flags (I know actual history with the colonies etc) because I'm pretty sure the thing is a lot older than me, and it'd be nice to know if it is something he had. Thanks.

Yes, I am, and yes, you normally get a flag at retirement.

That's weird. We Army guys never did. We do get one at death, of course. :D

Have you ever known us Army guys to ever get anything they give the Air Force?

Why would it be so different with people getting things when they retire Army VS Air Force?

Many Vets or their families encase them in cases like this Taylor1.

Ohh I just like the camo uniforms! You don't think that USAF gets as much respect as the US Army??

Oh, there are many who have preferences, I guess. Each service has advantages and disadvantages, but I respect all the services. They're all special in their own way. All service members deserve respect, and all have reason to be proud.

But interbranch ragging and rivalry is good too. :thumb: But on the internet, where tone can be misconstrued, it can lead to fights. Unless I know the person has a sense of humor and can give it right back, I avoid it.

Yeah, if your protecting my ass by being over seas in the navy, marines, air force, national guard, army whatever, you've got a ton of respect from me.
