Hey CM. I was at the 2000 F1 race in Indy and just after the National Amthem, 2 Harriers flew into the stadium at mach 10 or something,, and both of them stopped on a dime above the start/finish line. :worshippy:

One jet remained on station, heading south, hovering, while his wing man went thru a 360 (yaw) rotation at the same altitude.

When the wing man re-aligned with the leader, they both went to after burners and rocketed off at mach 10 again! What a sight!

The crowd was applauding and buzzing for several minutes before they could start the race!
It was fantastic!

Harriers are awesome. I wish I had the brains to fly one. Alas, I'm just a dumb Grunt. But I do my humble bit for God & Country.:thumb:

Used to fix those contraptions..

After they rotated out the Skyhawks (A-4's) and Sky Pigs (A6's), that is.

Back then though, that song in the background video was done by a band called Talk Talk. I think I actually prefer their version (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vvAVJTQeFiQ) better, but then I'm old. :smirky:

Hornets sure were beautiful birds, but it sounds like they're getting old too. It's hard to grasp that what we kids considered state of the art 20 years ago is already being considered obsolete by the powers that be.

Their replacement is pretty incredible of course..

F-35 Lightning II

But I hope that when their time finally comes, they still keep a few Hornets around for air shows. :thumb:

Never mind, it was Korea.

Are you referring to the A10 in Korea? The A10 was put into service in 1977.
Maybe you're thinking of another aircraft? F4?

Maybe he means his dad was Based in Korea (after the War)? I'll bet some of the units based there now operate A-10 squadrons.
