A judge awarded Heather Mills a total of $48.6 million Monday in the financial settlement of her divorce from former Beatle Paul McCartney.
A document released by the Family Court said the judge awarded Mills a lump sum of $33 million plus the assets she currently holds worth $15.6 million.

LONDON - Paul McCartney was ordered Monday to pay Heather Mills $48.6 million to settle their divorce.
"I'm so, so happy with this," Mills told reporters following the closed hearing.

Well of COURSE she is happy!! I would be too! Paul should have figured out she was after his money in the first place!!

Well, for what it's worth, I do think she is justified in appealing the distribution of the judgment. Their private information (especially information dealing with the daughter) should NOT be made public. Paul McCartney only wanted the judgment published so he could look magnanimous in his provision.
I would probably lean more toward PM's side if there wasn't a child involved, but HE fathered that child and I would expect him to provide for her in the manner he was providing previously.

When I was 12 years old, I spent a month in the hospital ... November - December. John Lennon was killed during that time and there I was in a hospital room with nothing but TV and radio to pass the time, and EVERYTHING was Beatles/John Lennon 24/7. I got burn out on it FAST. :(

Gotta be Lennon and acid.
I always liked the Beatles, minus Lennon. McCartney's lyrics and voice is pleasant. Harrison was good and workmanlike. Starr an amiable goof.
Lennon was the self-important artiste, for whom I have never had a bit of use.
As for the solo careers, McCartney had the best one, and a lot of his music in the 70s and early 80s stands the test of time very nicely. Harrison's music was good, and Ringo's was unobjectionable.

THE BEATLES lyrics - I Saw Her Standing There
(Lennon/McCartney)
Well, she was just 17
You know what I mean
And the way she looked was way beyond compare
So how could I dance with another (Ooh)
When I saw her standing there
Well she looked at me, and I, I could see
That before too long I'd fall in love with her
She wouldn't dance with another (Whooh)
When I saw her standing there
Well, my heart went "boom"
When I crossed that room
And I held her hand in mine...
Whoah, we danced through the night
And we held each other tight
And before too long I fell in love with her
Now I'll never dance with another (Whooh)
Since I saw her standing there
Well, my heart went "boom"
When I crossed that room
And I held her hand in mine...
Whoah, we danced through the night
And we held each other tight
And before too long I fell in love with her
Now I'll never dance with another (Whooh)
Since I saw her standing there
The profundity radiates from it with nova intensity.
THE BEATLES lyrics - I Want To Hold Your Hand
Oh yeah, I'll tell you something
I think you'll understand
When I'll say that something
I wanna hold your hand
I wanna hold your hand
I wanna hold your hand
Oh please, say to me
You'll let me be your man
And please, say to me
You'll let me hold your hand
I'll let me hold your hand
I wanna hold your hand
And when I touch you I feel happy
Inside
It's such a feeling that my love
I can't hide
I can't hide
I can't hide
Yeah, you've got that something
I think you'll understand
When I'll say that something
I wanna hold your hand
I wanna hold your hand
I wanna hold your hand
And when I touch you I feel happy
Inside
It's such a feeling that my love
I can't hide
I can't hide
I can't hide
Yeah, you've got that something
I think you'll understand
When I'll feel that something
I wanna hold your hand
I wanna hold your hand
I wanna hold your hand
I wanna hold your hand
Supernova!
THE BEATLES lyrics - The Inner Light
Without going out of my door
I can know all things on Earth
Without looking out of my window
I could know the ways of Heaven
The farther one travels
The less one knows
The less one really knows
Without going out of your door
You can know all things on Earth
Without looking out of your window
You could know the ways of Heaven
The farther one travels
The less one knows
The less one really knows
Arrive without travelling
See all without looking
Do all without doing
OMG! (chatroom lingo) QUASAR!
They were usually fairly good, and sometimes very good. But profound? Their audiences usually consisted of idolatrous teenage girls who threw their panties onto the stage. To them, this would be profound.

In all seriousness, some Beatles music was okay. I'll even sing along with it if it comes on the radio. It was just the Beatles themselves, as persons, I didn't care for. I guess it marred the music for me. I did think Ringo was funny, though --- especially in Thomas the Tank Engine, :smirky:.

The Beatles were a bunch of jerks, which is one of the reasons—perhaps the only reason—they broke up.
This short song may have been the high point of their tolerability. I wonder if Paul's been singing it lately.
Yesterday,
All my troubles seemed so far away,
Now it looks as though they're here to stay,
Oh, I believe in yesterday.
Suddenly,
I'm not half the man I used to be,
There's a shadow hanging over me,
Oh, yesterday came suddenly.
Why she
Had to go I don't know, she wouldn't say.
I said,
Something wrong, now I long for yesterday.
Yesterday,
Love was such an easy game to play,
Now I need a place to hide away,
Oh, I believe in yesterday.
Why she
Had to go I don't know, she wouldn't say.
I said,
Something wrong, now I long for yesterday.
Yesterday,
Love was such an easy game to play,
Now I need a place to hide away,
Oh, I believe in yesterday.
Mm-mm-mm-mm-mm-mm-mm.

Profound?Okay, maybe I should have moved the modifier in front of estimation. I know you're just jerking my chain, but if you want profound music, examples abound. Eleanor Rigby and Strawberry Fields Forever come to mind.
Homes, I defended you in your love for Barry Manilow because it was easily defensible. He wrote some nifty pop tunes. Ain't nothing wrong with that. ;)
My World War II-era and dearly departed father liked some of their songs quite a lot as well. He loved Michelle, Yesterday and Lady Madonna. Except that he didn't want his boys to imitate their hairstyle, he was quite on board as a Beatles admirer.
Regarding the lyrics to I Am a Walrus, I should point out that Lennon was fond of the nonsense verses such as Edward Lear and Lewis Carroll. Frankly, I found a lot of that tedious as well. But at least it had pedigree.

According to the judge, McCartney was still grieving for Linda (his wife of 30 years) when he met Eileen Heather, and never even took off his first wedding ring until he married the gold digger and put Hers on instead. I think she took full advantage of him in that state and is now getting a LOT more than she deserves.
I'm definitely not a Huge Beatles fan, but I always liked Paul's music and I think he got a real raw deal from this self-important drama queen/groupie/parasite. In a just world He would have received full custody of his daughter and Hopalong would have been kicked back to the curb to find another meal ticket.

WADR, El,
I guess we just see this differently. It is sad when one is taken advantage of, but one must open themselves up to BE taken advantage of first. This man is worth TONS ... he couldn't have gotten a prenup? We simply can't blame others for our mistakes, when we clearly could have prevented some of the pain and anguish in the first place. Blaming "her" for taking advantage of "him" is nothing but a liberal cop-out tactic, AFAIC. They had four years together AND a child ... he helped bring that child in to the world too. BOTH of them are ignorant rear-ends, imho. They should be putting the CHILD first, not themselves, not their selfishness.
The ONLY one I have sympathy and empathy for is that little girl. The other two? They got exactly what they deserved, as far as I'm concerned.

I hear you Homes and I should have said that I don't find Sir Paul totally the victim in this. He's a big boy and grieving or not, should have seen the writing on the wall when he met, shacked up with, and then married Heather. If there wasn't a child involved, I'd say they were simply poison to each other and leave it at that, but the little girl Should be the focus of whatever the final settlement is/was, and it sounds like the judge thought that way too, which is the only reason she ended up with more than two pence to rub together..
Now all that being said, I still have to wonder if the little girl might not be better off in her daddy's custody than her mother's. It really appears that He is a lot more reticent about making a public spectacle out of all of this than she is.
I'm only speaking as an observer though.

I don't know -- why then did he push for disclosure of the judgment knowing it would contain personal information relative to his daughter (and her welfare/safety)? And let's get down to brass tacks here -- which one will/would be more likely to give personal care to/for the child? Perhaps the mom by a smidge (because typically, daddies work and mommies take care of the kids), HOWEVER, I think neither -- they'll hire nannies, caregivers, pawn her off to schools and such. I don't picture either of them actually "parenting" this little girl.
I'm only speaking as an observer though.

Me too, hun, me too, :smirky:.
Thing is, whenever I see stories like this one, and Brittany Spears, and little Danielynn (Anna Nicole Smith's daughter), I am reminded of the Bible story where King Solomon had to decide between the two mothers claiming the baby. The REAL mother puts the child before her own selfish self ... how many of ANY of these people have actually put the child first?
So sad, so sad. :(

Now, Homes, you astound me. You know as well as I do that a prenuptial agreement is just an admission that the couple aren't going to live up to their vows "til' death do them part." That being the case, any matrimonial ceremony with a surrender clause is just a sham and a shame.

<!-- end storyhdr -->LONDON (AFP) - Heather Mills on Tuesday hit out at a judge's comments in his ruling on her divorce from Paul McCartney and admitted pouring a jug of water over the lawyer representing the former Beatle.

Asked about accusations that she poured water over McCartney's lawyer Fiona Shackleton at the conclusion of Monday's hearing, she said she approached her and said: "I'm not a loser."
"I poured the whole jug of water on her head. I was very calm," she added.
