I sometimes get a "not responding" error on ZA at startup. It seems to work fine after I close it and restart the program, though.

ZoneAlarm will tend to make too many CPU calls at times and will cause a vector error. It seems to be more unstable on Win 2000 and Win 98 boxes. Under XP, it rarely causes that problem, since it's kernel is more stable.
The best way to minimize ZoneAlarm from causing problems is to check what programs are running at Startup. To check that, go to Start/Run and type "msconfig" in the box. Click the Startup tab and see what is checked. Generally the only things you need to load at startup is your anti-virus program and ZoneAlarm itself. Everything else can be checked off. Click the Apply button and reboot. You should notice a faster boot and a more stable system.

Not my area of expertise, so I abstain.
