Obama gave a nice speech, except for everything he said about race. He apparently believes we're not talking enough about race. This is like hearing Britney Spears say we're not talking enough about pop-tarts with substance-abuse problems...More (http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=25610)

Imagine a white pastor saying: "No, no, no, God damn America -- that's in the Bible for killing innocent people! God damn America for treating our citizens as less than human! God damn America for as long as she acts like she is God and she is supreme!"

A pastor does do that. FRED PHELPS. Rev. WRONG and Phunkin' Idiot Phelps are living in the same cloud.

Yeah.

And I've got a sneaking feeling that they just might end up in the same place in the next life when they check out of this one.

Obama is the second coming of Christ to many. The fact that he is being criticized is proof to many of his holy status. Obama dissing his grandmother is just another sacrifice on the altar of Obama paganism.

Not to change the subject, but I saw on Drudge (?) that they believe they've found more graves on the ranch where Manson was living. Have you seen anything about this?

Throw Grandma Under The Bus

The thing about Obama's speech is that it's doubtful that stuff with gramma ever even happened. If it did, it's doubtful he winced. He lived with white people and is light-skinned himself, so it's far more likely he identified with his white half in those days rather than his black half.

EveningStar

She really nails it here:

We treat blacks like children, constantly talking about their temper tantrums right in front of them with airy phrases about black anger. I will not pat blacks on the head and say, "Isn't that cute?" As a post-racial American, I do not believe "the legacy of slavery" gives black people the right to be permanently ill-mannered.

Yep. THAT is the ultimate utility of Ann Coulter. Nobody else would think of saying that, much less say it so powerfully. But only a pariah -- and one of independent means who doesn't care about public opinion -- can talk that way.

Thank you, Kathy. I completely agree with you. How refreshing to see a woman who doesn't go hysterical over Ann's perceived "mean-spiritdness."

Yes, Ann is great. Not only is she brilliant, but she has the pair (so sadly missing in most of her male detractors) to call a spade, a spade (pardon the pun). And she does it boldly and agressively, and then laughs when the High Priests and Priestesses of Civil Discourse faint all around her.

And for that, she will always have my unconditional devotion.

That quote I cited is significant to me. I've been waiting for years to hear a white conservative say something like that.

White liberals do condescend to blacks. They do treat them like children. They do hold them to a lower standard than they do whites. Ever here the phrase, "the soft bigotry of low expectations"?

While I'm glad that Ann brings up the "liberal condescension to blacks" issue again (it should be posted in every corner of every city in America; especially the liberal ones), it's also true that conservatives have been saying that for a long time. I've read it on townhall several times in the past years. Rush said it, Sean Hannity said it, Laura Ingraham said it.

And, as Fox points out, so did Bush.

People say it all the time, they just dont get press time. Now I love Ann when she does stuff like this. I love it when she blunt and honest.

IMO, the only thing older, more tiresome and tedious, that seeing liberals being caught with their big foot in their big mouth is having to hear their pathetic, unconvincing, lame excuses about how their words were "taken out of context" and how they didn't mean it the way it sounded, etc. etc.

Honestly. I would have more respect for Obama if he just confessed to agreeing with his "mentor."

Of course, that would mean he would probably lose the demunist nomination ...

Here, never mind.

You often hear it said, of some political or other opportunist, that he would sell his own grandmother if it would suit his interests. But you seldom, if ever, see this notorious transaction actually being performed, which is why I am slightly surprised that Obama got away with it so easily. (Yet why do I say I am surprised? He still gets away with absolutely everything.)...
To have accepted Obama's smooth apologetics is to have lowered one's own pre-existing standards for what might constitute a post-racial or a post-racist future. It is to have put that quite sober and realistic hope, meanwhile, into untrustworthy and unscrupulous hands. --Christopher Hitchens

The incomparably snarky Christopher Hitchens does a riff on the Obama grandmom maneuver. Blind FaithThe statements of clergymen like Jeremiah Wright aren't controversial and incendiary; they're wicked and stupid. By Christopher Hitchens (http://www.slate.com//id/2187277/pagenum/all)
