This is the best video I've seen in some time...about "The day the Music died".

Watch the entire thing, it's WELL worth it. Cleared up some of the ?ambiguity? in the lyrics for me.

Actually, for every interpretation of a word or line in the song, there's one or more equally plausible alternatives—which is what makes it a great song. McLean's genius lies in writing a song whose lyrics whose lyrics were easy to understand, yet difficult to comprehend.

I love that song, always makes me sad tho. One of the songs out there where you can really feel the soul of the artist even if you can't totally comprehend what is being said.

I love the video that goes with this song Timberwolf, but like DTS says, I always thought there were a few more references that they missed..

Like "not a word was spoken.." (Simon and Garfunkel's Sounds of Silence), and "'cause the players tried to take the field, the marching band refused to yield.." (Kent State), etc.

Like the singer even says though, the meanings are in the mind of the listener. :biggrin:

This song is one of the few '60's nostalgia' things I actually love and I expect it'll remain a classic for a long time to come.

As I was reading this thread and opening this video I was watching The Buddy Holly Story on TV land. Fuuny huh.

Being a big Holly fan I've heard a lot of this before.Thanks TW.Its a great video. American Pie is without a doubt one of the greatest songs of all time. It never gets old.
