Oregon Man Says He's Pregnant

BEND, Ore. -- An Oregon man is five months pregnant, according to a national magazine.

( Nah, not really )

Thomas Beatie, who used to be a woman, appeared in the most recent issue of The Advocate, a magazine for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender readers, Portland, Ore., television station KPTV reported.

I wonder who 'had it in for him'? (Pun intended)

Yeah, how did he get that way if he is married to a woman?

From the article cited:
Beatie wrote the article, which includes a picture of him while he was 22 weeks pregnant. According to the story, he went through a sex (http://www.kptv.com/health/15702121/detail.html#) change, but decided only to have chest reconstruction and testosterone therapy.

Beatie was able to keep the reproductive organs he was born with. The article said he stopped getting the injections and was able to get pregnant.

Suz, "he" was a "she", but then underwent sex-reassignment, but only switched half-way, "s/he" retained reproductive organs, and Voila! "he's" having a baby but his wife is not. Sheesh!

Seems to me they got a marriage license under false pretenses because she never fully "became" a man.

Somebody told him to go eff himself and he did.

I realize that but a am assuming his wife wasn't part of this process so where did the baby come from??

Bend, Ore.? Isn't that a fairly conservative area with traditional values?

If this had happened in Portland or Eugene, on the other hand . . .

Sorry Suz, the "Sheesh" comment wasn't directed at you  -- I was sheeshing about the stupid selfishness of some people. I find this story simply disgusting. I feel so very sorry for that child. Sure hope God steps in and uses this situation for good, like He has so many other situations.

As for the biological "father" of the child, I don't think it says anything about that in the story. I don't know. Perhaps Fox is on to something, :smirk:

This is just an unnatural freak looking for attention. Too bad there could be a real baby involved in the insanity.

I believe that some kinds of slugs reproduce that way. That is, they look for another one, but if they can't find one, then they fertilize themselves.

I think they die after they lay their eggs, though.

Ain't prego. He's just all bound up. Too much cheese.

Some people ought not to reproduce...unfortunately they seem to be the ones that do it most prolifically

I would be afraid the child could inherit my problem if I was him/her.

The chap was artificially inseminated, I guess.

What will be the day is when a he becomes a she then gets knocked up. Given that uterine transplants are (or should be) theoretically possible, don't be surprised if something like that happens in our lifetimes.

These are the amazing before and after photographs of 'pregnant man' Thomas Beatie.

They show the 34-year-old and his 'wife' Nancy posing for gay magazine Odyssey in skimpy bikinis before his operation and then, just four years later, in a mocked up wedding-style picture.

The images were released as the Hawaiian native insisted his pregnancy was real and claimed he is 'perfectly capable' of giving birth - despite years of hormone treatments to make him a male.

Beatie will emerge from hiding on Thursday after reportedly striking an exclusive deal with American chat show host Oprah Winfrey to appear on her daytime programme on Thursday.

Pregnant man says bearing child a "human" desire (http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20080401/od_uk_nm/oukoe_uk_pregnant_man)

CHICAGO (Reuters) - A transgender man who kept his female reproductive organs despite his transformation is now five months pregnant and will appear on Oprah Winfrey's television show, the talk show said on Tuesday.

"I'm a person and I have the right to have my own biological child," Thomas Beatie, of Bend, Oregon, said in excerpts from the show, which airs on Thursday.

Sceptics questioned whether the story was an April Fool's hoax, but the Chicago-based talk show said Winfrey interviewed Beatie, his wife Nancy and their obstetrician along with friends of the couple. Beatie also did an interview with People magazine.
