I was playing Smear the Queer with some neighborhood buddies a few hours ago. Smear the Queer is simple: get rid of the ball to someone else before someone tackles you brutally.

There was only eight of us playing, everything was going fine until some rich teens we didn't know showed up. They wanted to play after they threatened to beat us up except in a more profane way.

When the game started, the rich kids started crying. No mercy was given. It was their fault. They were huddled up in the fetal position holding the ball while we were kicking them. As you all know, the point is to let go of the ball. If he had just let go of the ball, we would've stopped.

After that, they called us cheaters and that it was "unfair". These guys were threatening us an hour ago.

Here's what this taught me: rich kids are pampered too much and they become wussies. Liberalism teaches them that life is fair and everyone should get the fair amount of everything. When in reality, life is like Smear the Queer. You have to go kick the crap out of the kid who has the ball if you want to be part of the game. You also have to be willing to have the crap kicked out of you if you do happen to get the ball. That's life at its brutal truth.

I think what you are trying to say is that life is hard work and that rules don't bend at your whim. I certainly don't think that rich kids are any different than poor or middle class kids. Kids are kids and either their parents teach them to work for what they want, according to the rules of life, or they teach them to go to mommy or daddy or the government or someone or something else to bail them out.

I certainly don't consider "smear the queer" the type of game I would ever engage in - being female and a mom and all - (I am more of an UNO fanatic myself) - but I do believe if you are going to butt into someone elses game uninvited, you had better be prepared to encounter hostilities, and deal with them effectively.

Yes. But rich kids often turn out to be the most spoiled. They have everything in life handed down to them and they think the real world will treat them the same as their parents did.
I'm not saying all rich kids are like that, just a good number of them.

My art school is all Chinese. Other than the teenagers who attend, everyone speaks Chinese. They are all damn well off. Homes in Palos Verdes, and they all, to a one, own their own successful businesses. When there is a break in school, for spring, winter or the long summer vacation, the teens are all expected to work. The families trade kids for employment. The restauranteur's kids go to work for the importer and vice versa. The teens are assigned the most menial task that business provides. It could be mopping floors, cleaning out fryers, disinfecting food storage areas. The dirtiest job is assigned to the teen. These are kids from wealthy families. As part of the educational experience, the families want their children taught the value of hard work, how hard it is, and how you feel doing it. Oh and by the way, all the labor is unpaid.

You and I must live in very different states, Kathy. I know teens who don't have to lift a finger because daddy and mommy are rich.
I know some non-spoiled teens, but I know more spoiled-to-death teens than I do the non-spoiled.
