You can skip the mouth-to-mouth breathing and just press on the chest to save a life.

In a major change, the American Heart Association said Monday that hands-only CPR — rapid, deep presses on the victim’s chest until help arrives — works just as well as standard CPR for sudden cardiac arrest in adults.

Experts hope bystanders will now be more willing to jump in and help if they see someone suddenly collapse. Hands-only CPR is simpler and easier to remember and removes a big barrier for people skittish about the mouth-to-mouth breathing.

A new study has shown the O2 saturation in the blood stream remains at an acceptable level much longer than previously thought. As a result of this chest compressions circulating that blood is thought to be all thats needed until EMS arrives.
Next year my bet is it changes again. We had the same 5-1 ratio for years, now suddenly it keeps changing with each study.

That's fine by me. Now I can quit letting men die on the sidewalk when they expire from the Gulf Coast heat and humidity. However, I may forgot the new rules if I come across Janine Turner. Chest compressions AND mouth-to-mouth! You betcha!

Call 911. Or animal control. Or not. Whatever. Your call.

For the last one I'd call the coroner and be done with it.
