The 'Tree Man of Java' is hoping to get married after doctors performed four major operations to hack away the bark-like tissue sprouting from his hands and feet.

For 20 years Dede Koswara lived covered in warts with huge tree-like growths encasing his limbs.

They fixed this guy by administering Vitamin A, IIRC.

This reminds me of that American Dad character that had his testicles replaced with acorns. Anyone see that?

I watched a documentary on this guy on TV. A doctor, 'US' I think, donated his time to study and provided the surgery to help him.

This guy, and a few of his friends, all malformed, in different ways, made their living by hiring themselves out to a circus side show as 'freaks'.

The documentary was heartbreaking at first, but heartwarming at the end.

NOBODY should make fun of people with such a devastating condition, and I don't find anything humorous about the ordeal he has had to go through. I pray that whatever they've done, has worked and he doesn't have more difficulty with it.

That being said, I must admit the tagline of the story caused me to think about a comedy routine by Larry the Cable Guy (if you're interested in hearing it, click here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OFkthGGAHWA) but you'll need to disregard the vid, it has nothing to do with his dialog).

I'm not mocking him, but it does kind of make you wonder how he got the 4 lbs of warts and grew roots. Some of the ideas I have are a bit disturbing... just a bit of course...

When I saw the "roots" part, I at first thought this thread was going to be about Alex Haley (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roots_(TV_miniseries)).
