Cut Carter Center funding

A Michigan congressman has proposed cutting all federal funding for ex-President Jimmy Carter's Carter Center because of his current trip to meet with leaders of terrorist organizations.

The CARTER Act, by U.S. Rep. Joe Knollenberg, of Farmington Hills, Mich., would prevent federal dollars from being used to finance discussions and negotiations with terrorist groups, he said.

The Coordinated American Response To Extreme Radicals Act estimates taxpayers already have given the Carter's think-tank foundation some $19 million. But Knollenberg is suggesting no more.

Is the Carter Fund supposed to be used to help people or something? Because if it is, I can see the usual suspects coming to me bleating about how that will hurt "those he helps."

Don't.

When you head organizations that help people, it is your responsibility to see that you do not piss off the donors, or that you do something stupid that might hurt your organization.

That's what I tell those who go livid every time I tell them I do not give to effing United Way because of their attitude with Boy Scouts. And I tell the same thing to those who might faint because I approve of cutting Carter's funds for his center.

Me, neither. I rub it in their faces every way I can think of, and do it in a loud voice so that others nearby can hear everything I say. This year I'm going to put up a sign in my classroom and on my door at home, stating my reasons for not giving to the United Way. I hope somebody comes out with a bumper sticker showing United Way exed out and Give to the Scouts underneath.

Conservatives have to quit being polite. It's costing us our way of life.
