Homes, that's cool. Did you do it yourself?

Hey TR --
Actually, it's a template. I'm working on a project for Unk, it will be a faux-stained glass piece. What you see on the glass within the frame, is the template, and I will replace the paper template with glass paint, to recreate the symbol. As I said, it will look like stained glass when I'm finished with it. I needed a place to post it so Unk could look at it and see if that's the design he wants.

I am in the process of starting my own small home-based business doing the faux-stained glass work, as well as event videos (DVDs) for events like birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, etc. I just finished an event video for a client today -- a sports video, covering a girls softball season. If you'd like to see what it looks like, here's a link to part of the video that I put on youtube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QRyJCXnTNbI). I'm hoping to get a website with samples of my vids and glasswork so I can generate business.

Okay Unk, here is a picture of the first seal (GOP Club). I've added a border, because most stained glass looks better (i.e. finished) with a border; I used the Texas state flag as inspiration, :smirk:

The Elephant and the area between the border and the circular seal is not painted yet. I ran out of "Snow White" paint, and I thought I had 2 bottles of crackle but didn't. I'm going to the store to pick up more paint tomorrow. They don't make a "gray" paint, so I'm mixing "Cameo Ivory" with the "Charcoal Black" to formulate a gray -- I have a piece of glass I keep on hand to test paints, so I made a little square of the gray to see how it will look after it dries.

The reason the paint appears opaque instead of translucent is that I just finished painting it, so the paint hasn't had time to dry to its normal state yet. Just so you know too, the "gold" paint I used for the lettering is actually gold sparkle, and it looks absolutely gorgeous when dry (very much like real gold!) -- I thought this would really help the seal to stand out instead of just using black (hope that was okay to use a bit of artistic license, :) ) Also, because it is wet, I can't turn it over to take the paper template off the back yet -- I will probably be able to remove it later on tonight. I'll try to take another picture (by that time the paint should be 1/2 set, and perhaps I can capture what it will look like with light going through it).

Anyhoo, thought you would like an update on the progress, so here's the first one: (Click the pic to make it larger, so you can see it in more detail.)
