Barack Obama Defends Opposition to Partial-Birth Abortion Ban in Interview

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- In a Sunday interview, pro-abortion presidential candidate Barack Obama defended his opposition to a ban on partial-birth abortions. Though he wasn't in Congress at the time it voted on the ban, he said he would have supported it had it contained a health exception.

However, doctors and medical groups readily acknowledge that the three-day-long abortion procedure -- involving the killing of an unborn baby halfway through the birthing process - never helps women medically.

In an interview on Fox News Sunday, Obama said, "On an issue like partial-birth abortion, I strongly believe that the state can properly restrict late-term abortions. I have said so repeatedly. I can think of risks to the health of the mother where partial birth abortion would be necessary. I can think of no risk to the health of the mother that a cesarian instead of killing the baby wouldn't be more appropriate for both.

Actually I cannot imagine carrying a child for nine months and deciding a month or week before it's born to abort it. It's so far beyond the realm of possibility as to be incomprehensible.

Fact: in a PBA, as the graphics indicate, the baby is alive and delivered except for the head. The baby is then cold-bloodedly murdered. I defy anyone to describe a situation where that is beneficial to the health of the female. Why not complete the delivery and put the baby up for adoption? What conceivable health issue requires killing the baby?

There are cases in which the baby's head is just too big and will just rip a woman open. There were cases like this long ago and women did die. Which is easily taken care of by cesarian today.

Has a PBA every been performed for that reason? The entire purpose of abortion is to kill the baby, to the extent that if a baby survives the abortion, s/he is left to die alone and unattended (for which evil may those who do it stoke the furnaces of hell).

A c-section delivers the baby alive, which is contrary to the premise of abortion.
