Why do you think this? What possible reason could a 10 year old (nine at the time of the assault) have for lying and accusing a 37 year old man? I don't understand how you come to the conclusion that the girl is lying about the perpetrator.

Because when I was 9, I remember how easy it was for teachers to manipulate into getting the answers that they wanted from students. Its not hard to get a 9 year old to confess to things they havent done.

Well, unless there is more evidence within the article, or more evidence comes to light in the future, I don't have any reason to believe it to be anyone other than the person in custody. There wasn't anything in the article to base your conclusion on, and it sounds more like you're saying it's the 9/10 year old's fault somehow. I know we live in a much more highly sexualized society than ever before, but I just don't see jumping to the conclusion that it didn't happen just the way this young child is claiming.

What im saying is that I was watching a movie on Lifetime where a young girl (probably 8 or 9) was molested and the cops coerced her into giving them the answer that they wanted. When she was 16 she confessed to the police that it hadnt been the right guy and was scared to tell the truth. And I know movies arent always right but like I said before principals and teachers do it often as well. Im sure situations like this happen in real life too.

I'm sure there are circumstances like you've described, but I wouldn't call it the norm, nor would it be something I would automatically jump to just because the child was 9/10.

For what it's worth, I wouldn't trust ANYTHING seen on the Lifetime channel.

I think this child deserves more than jumping to the conclusion that she has been manipulated by law enforcement authorities -- it's for sure she has already suffered at the hands of someone.

What's really important is, more information is needed to flesh out this story. As you have alluded to, where where the parents of the girl? How did this happen? I can't imagine the child had no symptoms during 9 months of pregnancy that she wasn't taken to a physician. More information is necessary.

I can answer the next two:The parents were right there in the home when it happened; the rapist had access to the girl, and whether anyone wants to face it, the rapist had the tacit consent of the parents --by virtue of their silence. You'll find that the vast majority of children who are sexually abused --male and female, are abused within the family structure: dad, brother, uncle, grandfather, or close family friend.

A lot of people don't understand that their children are far more likely to be approached by a pedophile while they are sitting in front of the television in their own rec room, than they are on a public playground.

LDG answered your last question. The law prevents CPS or the DCFS in every state that I know anything about from disclosing oceans of information --and rightly so.
