Country singer who had a British hit in 1966 with Make the World Go Away .
Eddy Arnold, the country singer who died yesterday aged 89, had a Top 10 hit in Britain with Make the World Go Away in 1966, and claimed more country music hits than anyone else in the history of the genre.
Arnold’s mellow baritone voice enjoyed such universal appeal — Dinah Shore once likened it to “warm butter and syrup being poured over wonderful buttermilk pancakes” — that between 1945 and 1983 he had 145 records in the country charts, including 28 at number one.

Introduced by Minnie Pearl.
I didn't recognize her at first, especially since she was minus her cheesy hat with the price tag hanging from the brim.

I pray comfort and peace be bestowed From Above on all the friends, family and ones that he loved, and the Lord embrace Mr. Arnold into his loving Presence. I was/am a big fan of Eddy Arnold ... my Dad had several cassettes of his music, and would play them in the car when we were traveling. Didn't appreciate them then, but have come to love and appreciate the music of the past, perhaps because I have always felt I was born in the wrong era. My husband and I both listened to Eddy Arnold, and enjoyed the smooth richness and sincerity of his voice. My favorite songs will always be Cattle Call and Tennessee Stud.

Well, one more link to my childhood is broken...
And now we find out who's mature and educated vs who's young and wet behind the ears... I wonder how many on this board remember Eddie Arnold... :smirky:
