A Marines Sign of Respect
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A Marines Sign of Respect
I picked up on something very funny this morning. CNN showed George W. leaving HM-1. The marine at the front step saluted, GW returned it, and as he walked away, the marine executed a right face to stand facing GW's back... something that was "missing in eight years of the Clinton presidency".
The traditional Marine Corps mark of respect was rendered to the new president. That one goes back to the days in the rigging, when the marine orderly to the ship's captain always faced him, no matter his direction of movement, to be ready to receive an order.
Who says that enlisted men can't hold back when they don't respect someone? ...And for eight years, they did.

Considering that one of the First Edicts of The New and Improved Intolerable Acts by the once First Bitch was to pass down the Directive that Marines pulling White House Duty were to wear Suits and not their Dress Blue Uniforms, Uniforms I might add that Marines pay high dollars for out of their own pockets, this comes as a pleasant change.
Marines, you see, used to be Honored to Serve at The White House, The People's House, Our House. That came to an abrupt and screaming halt during the Reign of The Clint-Stones.
Marines who were asked, ordered or advised to pull this Duty during the last Administration looked upon the Duty as a punishment rather than the Honor it truly was because you see, the Inhabitants of The White House then loathed the Military until it came time to use them as a Political Tool to cover up the antics of the POTUS and the Testimony of those that were being subpeoned or indicted to cook his goose.
Meaning, all cryptology aside, he used to bomb people to cover up Blowjob Testimony.
So, it is nice to see things are back to normal now.

Sonarman,
When I was drafted they ask me to go special forces, but I was to scared to jump out of that plane from 20,000 ft.

I completely understand that position. I, too, have no desire to jump out of working aircraft. I spent my time at sea, and later on subs.

For the first time in 8 years the Marines have a Commander In Chief they truly CAN respect. That respect is important because our service men and women know they could be put in harms way and my lay down their lives for their CIC.

Well, let's remember George S. Patton's attitude on this. The "best" thing is for our armed forces to cause "the other guy" to lay down their lives for their country.

Jack Rail, ROTFLMAO.
I'm just an ex-skimmer / ex-bubblehead, JR. We always expected 3-1 odds (one enemy Boomer and two enemy Fast Attack boats opposing our one sub), so we preferred to go for the bushwack. That jumping out of "perfectly good airplanes" sounds too much like real work....
