This has been big buzz at NFL.com and other official sites since last weekend.
Has Brett Favre decided that he wasn't ready to quit just yet?

A lot of questions will rise if he Does return.. will the Pack want him back? If not, would he be willing to play for another team, especially an old Rival (rumors are floating around that either the Bears or the Vikings would be at the top of the bidding list)?
It's still pretty early, but I for one don't think this was a smart move on his part. He's had several years now to plan his exit from the sport, and after the big todo's around his 'retirement' in March, this would be almost a thumb in the eye to thousands of Packer fans.
Now I am Not a Packers fan, so I really don't care how this jimmies up their plans to develop Rodgers into their next franchise, nor do I hope my own team (da Bears) tries to snag him. THAT right there would be a huge mistake.
On the other hand, the McCaskeys (Bears owners) have made other spectacular blunders before..
Anyone else have thoughts? Any of ya'all want this washed-up has-been veteran QB on your team this year? :smirky:
Pat Kirwan has a good analysis here too:

Well, he's better than what we have in Kansas City right now.

I am a DIE HARD Packer Backer, but I honestly wish Brett would retire! He was a GREAT QB, but his time has passed. It is time to sit back and not tarnish the great record he has. I can understand that he wants to win ONE MORE Super Bowl before he retires, but it makes him look desperate...

If he can play anywhere near his former potential, Favre would be one of the top QB's in the game, and I can't imagine anyone not wanting such a man in their backfield.
On the other hand, if he's over the hill, he needs to stay there and not on the playing field.

:moo: Brett Fave-er can take heart that the RAMS have a fine history of signing has-been quarterbacks, especially when their recent fortunes have sagged as much as the quarterback's recent career performance.

My boss said most of the brouhaha this week has been because Favre apparently had an understanding with the Packer's GM that he could sit out the summer camp schedule at home in Miss. Not sure if he intended to come back for week one and do an "official retirement ceremony" then or not, but..
The Packers' management team snubbed him, directly or indirectly somehow.
I don't know if that's related to him calling the Coach (McCarthy) to say he had the 'itch' to play or not, but somehow (the rumor has it anyway), signals got crossed and Favre was given the official Cold Shoulder.
Everyone's still keeping Mum about it today.. Favre, McCarthy, Rodgers (Favre's presumptive replacement as starting QB), and the rest of the gang are all avoiding the subject.
We'll just have to wait and see how this all hashes out, but I for one think it would be Awesome if Fav-ruh ended up in Minnesota. As a Bears fan, it'd be great knowing my team's two chief rivals would be dealing with 'issues' all season, muahahahaha!

He is by no means a bad Quarterback. He's still damn good. He will have quite a few interceptions, so whatever team signs him will have to be one that has a turnover-causing defense. Packers shouldn't take him back as it would drive the nail in Rodgers' coffin...... However there are plenty of teams with bad quarterbacks that could use a veteran star like Favre to push them over the hump. I'm gonna disagree with Longhorn here, there is no way he could land a starting job over Marc Bulger Lol...

:moo: I never said he'd get the starting job. We just need somebody to warm the spot where Joe Namath used to sit. "Lol..."

Heh. I don't think Favre would come back to be a backup though.
Off the top of my head I'd make this list
Minnesota
New York Jets (Pennington is never healthy)
Miami (Anything is an improvement.)
Kansas City
Although I expect him to either retire or go back to Green Bay, all of the above would be better fits/choices for him.
Meh, I wonder if he will ever retire, he seems to say he is every year and then ends up back under Center in Green Bay.

Maybe Favre could be some team's quarterbacks coach.

Just not the same as getting cracked by a 260 pound defensive end in a -20 snow storm.
