MILWAUKEE (AP)—The Green Bay Packers (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/teams/gnb/;_ylt=AsjP7cX2HWB6OxzpkgOhbyYdsLYF) have filed tampering charges against the Minnesota Vikings (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/teams/min/;_ylt=AtAaE8MgExHC0BTRK3dE_0odsLYF) alleging the team made inappropriate contact with Brett Favre (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/1025/;_ylt=Akz5KpzcQJ8qzZTB1PVj1cgdsLYF), a person familiar with the Packers’ complaint told The Associated Press Wednesday night.

The person, who requested anonymity because of the sensitivity of the subject, said Packers officials have expressed their belief that interest from the Vikings was driving Favre’s sudden change of heart about playing football in 2008.

“They feel like Favre had something (in place), and that’s why he was so anxious to get his release all of a sudden,” the person said.

The tampering charges were first reported by Foxsports.com earlier Wednesday.

The person said the league already has reviewed evidence provided by the Packers, and team officials believe a league examination of telephone records would indicate more than “normal contact” between Favre and Vikings offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell, a former Green Bay assistant. According to the person, Packers officials also believe the contact began before Favre and his agent, Bus Cook, formally asked the Packers to release him.

It may be interesting the next time these two teams meet on the field.

The Packers weren't interested in Favre returning to them anyway, were they?

Nope...but, that doesn't mean they want to face him TWICE this coming season as the opposing QB.

GREEN BAY, Wis. - With Brett Favre's retirement up in the air, it goes without saying that the Green Bay Packers might have to put off retiring the three-time MVP's jersey.

The Packers had scheduled a ceremony to retire Favre's jersey in conjunction with the Sept. 8 season opener against Minnesota at Lambeau Field.

But with Favre now considering playing again in 2008 and locked in a standoff with Packers management about his future in football, Packers president and CEO Mark Murphy acknowledged Thursday that the ceremony might have to be postponed.

"We have not made a decision yet on whether to cancel it," Murphy said, after the Packers' annual shareholders meeting at Lambeau.

Wouldn't it be funny if they go ahead and retire his jersey on the same night he is playing for the other team, and to add insult to the injury, the Vikings.
