From what I've heard, you better be ready to stand in line for a while.

not at my local theater. I'm not stupid enough to go to manhattan and try to see it.

I just saw it, and I was totally absorbed. It's truly a good movie. I thought people were talking up Heath Ledger because he died and they didn't want to sound critical, but his performance is really impressive.

I'm going to wait a few weeks. It's obviously going to be around for a while, and I really don't like crowds, particularly noisy ones when I go to the theater

Besides, there are plenty of other good flicks out there right now to choose from.

Heath Ledger is like what Tupac was to album sales. Shugh Knight used that boy up like a Weekend At Bernie's, Return of the Necrophiliac.

Amazing movie, really great. The first fight scene was somewhat lame and wasn't well choreographed in my opinion, but the rest of the movie was really fun. Heath Ledger gave an outstanding performance as the joker... to be honest, I'm actually saddened that he is gone, for no more jokers of his caliber will ever play in a Batman movie. He outshone Jack Nicholson many times over.

"The Dark Knight" **** out of four.

Best movie of the year thus far. Ledger's performance is Oscar worthy, and that is not at all because he died, it's legitimate.

Michael Medved gave the movie **** out of **** and said that Ledger is a shoo-in for the Best Actor Oscar.

Of course Ledger will with best actor! He's dead! Who is going to be so crass as to vote against a dead guy? Especially one dead of a drug overdose.

Medved is a social conservative.

Also, Ledger's death was officially ruled an accident (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heath_Ledger#Death).

The scenes with Two-Face felt rushed. It would have been better to let him be the bad guy in the next movie - the character is one of Batman's best rogues and certainly merits being featured in a two-hour movie of his own.

After Bane was criminally under-utilized in Batman and Robin, it would be awesome to see him show up in the next film.

Using cell phones to spy on all of Gotham was a cool trick and immediately made me think of Batman building the "Brother Eye" satellite to spy on the other super heroes in the comics.

And while some will complain about the Joker being too dark, this version of the Joker perfectly captures the post-Crisis psychopath who seeks destruction and anarchy for the sake of destruction and anarchy. You can easily see this Joker beating Robin to death with a crowbar or shooting Batgirl in the spine. Spectacular performance by Ledger.

Well, actually, six people have been nominated posthumously, and only one of the six ended up winning. The person who won was Peter Finch from the movie "Network," and it was certainly deserved.

I think you gave No country for old men 4 stars, and the same for In the valley of Elah, was Dark Knight better than either of those in your opinion?

So, the gay cowboy had to take it a step further and wear makeup too.

Queer.

I've never seen "In the Valley of Elah," however, "No Country For Old Men" is the better film, but obviously I think both are excellent.

Thanks. If Dark Knight is in the class of No Country, maybe I'll wait for it to get to Blockbuster.

I'm normally not into super hero movies. However I do like some of the Batmans. I'll go in a week or two after the crowds die down a little bit.

It will be weird seeing Ledger.

I'm no fan of comic strips brought to the screen, either.

But I was blown away by Batman Begins. With Christopher Nolan's direction and the outstanding performances all around, Christian Bale's Bruce Wayne/Batman is flesh-and-blood, not the cartoon character we've come to expect. Once you can accept that a rational, intelligent guy would get dressed up in a bat suit and take on crime by himself, then you have the beginning of a story for adults. THAT was the miracle of the writing and direction of the movie. And it was a ripping yarn.

If The Dark Knight is in that league, it will be well worth seeing.

I'll wait for the DVD. Screw the ambience. Sitting in a crowded theater with a bunch of unwashed, mouthy morons is unappealing.

Yes, "The Dark Knight" is a movie that really doesn't have to be looked at as a comic book movie. It is sort of comparable to a movie like "Heat" but just so happens to have a comic book character in it.

If The Dark Knight is in that league, it will be well worth seeing.

Oh it surpasses "Batman Begins."

I agree. You have to see it in the theater like you had to see "Grindhouse" or "Cloverfield" in a theater to fully get it.

I agree. Begins spent way too much time on an origin that could have been done in 5 or 10 minutes. Dude, everyone knows Batman's origin. He is seeking revenge for the killing of his parents. Let's just get to the "present day".

S-T, that's where we disagree. Without the backdrop, Batman Begins wouldn't have worked for me. I wasn't interested in cartoon characters.

Half of that movie involved having the wealthy child Bruce Wayne lose his parents, develop a hatred for criminals, get lost in the wilderness and picked up by other vigilantes (for want of a better word), and finally trained to terrorize those who made fear their livelihood.

All of this made Batman a real flesh-and-blood person. Someone I could accept and sympathise with.
