White House Accidentally E-Mails to Reporters Story That Maliki Supports Obama Iraq Withdrawal Plan

July 19, 2008 1:29 PM

The White House this afternoon accidentally sent to its extensive distribution list a Reuters story headlined "Iraqi PM backs Obama troop exit plan - magazine."

The story relayed how Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki told the German magazine Der Spiegel (http://www.spiegel.de/international/world/0,1518,566841,00.html) that "he supported prospective U.S. Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama's proposal that U.S. troops should leave Iraq within 16 months … ‘U.S. presidential candidate Barack Obama talks about 16 months. That, we think, would be the right timeframe for a withdrawal, with the possibility of slight changes,'" the prime minister said.

...once we pull out and Iran's insurgents sweep through and take over Iraq will Maliki feel the same? Once he is captured and has jumper cables on his testicles will he be wondering why the Iranians agreed with Obama's pull out timetable too?

This is one of those liberal contortions to make the lie some sort of truth. Some obamaton released a statement to Der Spiegel that Maliki supported the obamaplan. The story from Der Spiegel was accidentally released. Not that Maliki supports the obamaplan. Maliki himself says he never said any such thing.

No wonder European leaders are hesitant about meeting the obamination! They know that whatever they say will be misstated. I can just see them taking an asprin for the headache they get over contemplating that they may have to deal with this self-promoting liar.
