As a followup to my alert from a few days ago, there is another alert I would like to make known to members here.
Last week, we had Blaster. This week a new worm, which is dervied from Blaster, one named Win32.Nachi.A Worm or Nachi/"Welchia, has appeared. This worm attempts to inoculate computers by downloading the same patch used to fix the vulnerablilty that Blaster exploited, from Microsoft's site. However, the new worm is causing even more problems than Blaster, and on Tuesday brought down Air Canada's ticketing systems.
Go to E-Trust's site (http://www3.ca.com/virusinfo/virus.aspx?ID=36372) for an explanation of the worm and if you have not yet downloaded and installed the Windows patch that Microsoft released last month, or if you have not downloaded the latest revision of the patch (released Aug. 18), go to Microsoft's site (http://www.microsoft.com/technet/treeview/default.asp?url=/technet/security/bulletin/MS03-026.asp) to download the revised patch.
