Someone contact AlBore ASAP!

The ground is so hot in one part of Southern California it can melt the shoes right off your feet.

An unexplained "thermal anomaly" caused a patch of land in Ventura County, just north of Los Angeles, to reach a temperature of over 800 degrees on Friday, baffling experts who have been monitoring the area for weeks.

The anomaly was discovered after the land got so hot that it started a brush fire and burned three acres last month.

Firefighters were brought to the scene after reports of a blaze, but by the time they arrived only smoldering dirt and brush remained.Southern California Hot Spot Hits 812 Degrees, Baffles Experts (http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,398484,00.html)

Now THAT is global warming!

That is global blazing, since the temperature is higher than 451 degrees F.

But that's land temperature, not air temp, so it ain't GW. If the air got that hot we'd be dead, so we wouldn't be worrying about it much.

Lava flow close to, but not erupting through, the surface?

The hot ground is obviously coming from hell.

Actually, isn't that part of the country pretty close to the San Andreas fault? It may be a sign that the Big One is about to happen.

Yeah, I saw that movie. It wasn't too bad. Parts of it were filmed here in Gaffney, SC. And the producer, Earl Owensby has a Studio in Shelby, just a few miles from here. He converted a cement tower on the Cherokee Nuke Site into the largest water tank used in a motion picture. There are also "rumors" that parts of the underwater sequence that would not work in the tank, like large scale shots of rock walls and other bits, were filmed in the quarry at Limestone College here in Gaffney as well.

I called the PR department at Limestone College, the person I talked to had also heard that but he couldn't confirm it, since the movie was made way before he began working there. He gave me the number to Owensby Studio in Shelby, and I called them, but got an answering machine saying everyone was out of the office. I'll try again tomorow some time. I'm kind of curious to know if the Quarry rumor is true.

I really liked that movie. Lots of funny moments to go with the drama. I especially liked the scene where the guy wakes up out of a sound sleep to see the water tentacle and instinctively grabs the nearest object he can find to defend himself, which turned out to be a tiny potted plant. Cracked me up!

But that's land temperature, not air temp, so it ain't GW.Strictly speaking, Earth is the "globe". However, AlBore will ignore it, since he cannot find a way to link it to CO2 from SUVs and barbecue grills.

I keep hoping it is an volcano getting ready to break through. It would have to be a quick volcano. Otherwise they'd just evacuate to our states and we'd be screwed.

That does it! Now we're definitely going to the Missoula Gun Show tomorrow. (Low on some ammo)
