WASHINGTON (July 15, 2002 11:27 p.m. EDT) - The Bush administration on Monday cleared the way for Navy use of a powerful low-frequency sonar to identify enemy submarines, a move environmentalists say will lead to increased strandings and deaths of whales.

This is excellent news.
Quite frankly, we need to put defense concerns first. If the EPA and the Greens don't like it, tough. There is a war on.

My thoughts exactly, clancyphile.
It's actually "much ado about nothing". The Navy has been using powerful active sonars for decades, and no apparent problems.
