The movie is coming out in time for Memorial Day Weekend.
To sound out what the feelings were at that time, National Geographic has installed a bulletin board on their site http://www.nationalgeographic.com
asking:
Where were you on that day (7 Dec.,1941)
What do you remember?
(There is a VERY good letter from a Navy man who was blown overboard. --I was 5 months old on that day, but the attitude this man has, the expectations he had that day, and the way he has lived the rest of his life is the values and ethics I was taught)

Pearl Harbor (re: the attack thereon) was a classic screwup. Washington knew it was going to happen, days in advance. First thing they could have done, ordered the ships to sea.... instead of bottled up in a bathtub - shooting gallery.

What happens? Admiral Kimmel and General Short both are held to blame for the Pearl Harbor disaster.... having no warning from "our guys who knew", and the involvement of Saint FDR is given a "pass", although he is largely responsible for those 2300+ dead (ie. he knew, and could have issued the warning, and orders to put to sea).

To this day.... the Kimmel family hasn't been able to clear the Admiral's name. A lot of sailors (some marines) died that day, so that FDR could have his opening to war with Japan and Germany.
