When I was locating my Marines for their reunion my brother-in-law, who lived only an hour away called me and said the thought he may have a buddy who might be interested in coming as he was a Marine who served in Nam the same time my brother did. I said "sure bring him". As it turned out not only was he in Nam the same time as my brother's platoon he was IN that platoon as the dog trainer. He was the one who took care of the Scout dogs. Just one more miracle that took place in my quest to reunite my brother's Nam platoon. C-2 1/7 USMC.

Warlady, you used to have a link to a site about your bro, but when I tried it it didn't work and now I don't even see it.
I'm interested. Can you put something up again?

There were 4,500 dogs who served in Vietnam (four legged veterans). They are credited with saving 10,000 American (human) lives. That is one hell of a record.

Yes, I did. It was a little hokey and overdone (no WAY he'd take that nurse/doctor/whatever she was) into the bush like that. However, the dogs (the real McCoy stories) did indeed do just what was alluded to.

The ending was untrue too the dogs were either turned over to south vietnam's army or killed

Yes, I noticed the statistic that only one in ten dogs ever came back to the states. However.... for a huggy, warm fuzzy feeling movie.... they didn't want to show that.... only mentioned it in the credits.... didn't explain what happened to nine out of ten of the dogs.
