Ditto....my gratitude to all that came before me that have fought and given their lives so that we may live in freedom! The REAL heroes!
I live in a very tiny town and there is a small cemetary about 1/4 up the road from me. My kids and I have walked through that cemetary before and we have found graves that date back to several that were killed in the Revolutionary war. Because families have moved on etc, I have always felt bad for these Patriots...feeling that they may have been forgotten.
Today, while I have all my flowers sitting waiting to be planted, I think I will take a few of these beautiful blooms up there in remeberence and gratitude for these three men that gave their lives and totally changed the future of this country...

To those who gave their lives, rest in peace. Your deaths will not have been in vain. The watch is eternal.

As I write this, I am currently enjoying a broadcast of The Longest Day , one of the greatest war movies ever made.
Thank you, Dwight Eisenhower,
--for not first conducting an enviromental impact study before sending in the troops;
--for not worrying about whether you had done enough diplomacy before shattering the fragile Franco-German peace accord of 1940;.
--for turning many Nazis into greenhouse gases;
--for not not asking and not not telling;
--for not installing a powder room on a single landing craft;
and mostly for one of the greatest moments in American history.

To my Dad.
On a desroyer escort in the Pacific during WWII for four years.
He was a gunner. He didn't die but he saw his best friend blown to bits on his ship when a bomb hit the turret.
My Dad died in 1971 of heart disease. God rest his soul.
Achilles.
