Well, GMC and Chevy are technically the same - the platforms are identical.

Fords......... well.......... they SUCK! 'nuff said. http://freeconservatives.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon129.gif

It's all about preference. They're all great or they all suck, depending on whatcha want.

Personally, I drive a Suburban...but, I wouldn't mind an Excursion...can't stand the Durango, though. Not that it's a bad ride, just don't like the looks of it.

Like I said, personal preference.

Oh my! Cat, do you really want another fight with Dave? http://freeconservatives.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon129.gif http://freeconservatives.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif

I know which makes of trucks are better than any cocky little prick in the city would. The Chevy drivers here all have a chip on their shoulder and a real attitude problem. Note I didn't say all Chevy drivers, just the ones here!

I have had first hand experience with Chevy and Ford and the Ford would outpull a Chevy anytime. I've seen Ford trucks pull a 20 foot cattle trailer with no problem whereas Chevys huff and puff.

I also once owned a Chevy with a 350 motor and automatic tranny. What a freaking joke!!!! I went through 2 or 3 trannys, 2 alternators, the electrical system failed, and all of that happened within 50,000 miles!

Not to step on toes, I'm sure there's some great Chevys out there and I know people love the nice rides. At car shows, I see it's common to put Chevy engines in old Fords and other makes; they are the least expensive route in almost all cases. Not only are the engines and parts easily available and inexpensive, there are more aftermarket parts available for Chevy engines.

My vote still goes to Ford. http://freeconservatives.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tank.gif

"can't stand the Durango, though. Not that it's a bad ride, just don't like the looks of it."...
that's funny ..i wish Ford made one like that !
I'd go with a Durango for a family vehicle .....or
a Ford diesel 4 door ..a tad pricey , though ...

Cat ...i just don't know what to do about you !

Not trying to pick a fight with you Dave! http://freeconservatives.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon129.gif Lord knows we don't want to go there http://freeconservatives.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smack.gif http://freeconservatives.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rotflmbo.gif , but I have never driven a Ford I liked. I think it comes down to what TW said.... personal preference! Then again, I haven't driven many Chevy trucks that I liked either! I'll stick with my Jeeps, thank you very much! http://freeconservatives.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon129.gif That is until Chrysler screws them all up! Wait till you see the ones coming out next year - they're putting smaller engines in them for heaven's sake along with other changes that are just messing up the whole vehicle! Can you believe it?!?!?!?! ARGH!!!! http://freeconservatives.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/Crying.gif

Rink, why is that?

Chevy and GMC are identical except for the labels, minor cosmetic things, ie. the styling. The engines, drivelines, chassis, etc. are fundamentally the same.

My dad had a GMC Dually, and he had a problem part that GMC just plain would not back or help him get, and he relied on his truck for his business which was delivering oil, and such to his customers, as he was a Union 76 Distributor.

Made him mad he had to hunt all over fot that part, when GMC could have helped him but didnt.

I see what you mean! Another case of crappy customer service. I agree that GM has been guilty of that on many many ocassions! http://freeconservatives.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon129.gif

Fords are better. Much better. Ford spends a lot of money on things that you can't see. So the interior design looks a bit plain in the Fords. Chevy spends more money on looks rather than overall quality and performance.

Chevy trucks have nice interiors and are number 6 on the list of top 10 stolen vehicles.

Ford trucks have been the best selling trucks since Jimmy Carter was president--for the last 25 years...in a row. FoMoCo has been the sales leader since 1991. In 2002, the Ford F-150 was the number one selling vehicle in the USA. Not the Honda Accord, Toyota Camry, etc. A Ford truck.

Ford trucks get their power (high torque) from small, fuel efficient OHC (overhead cam) engines. They provide more torque at much lower RPMs. Maximum torque is achievable at a much lower RPM. Chevy's big, old tech OHV (overhead valve) pushrod engines use more parts and are inefficient. Torque is what you need to get a load moving. Not horsepower.

Chevy's ads are somewhat deceptive, too. Chevy brags about horsepower and they show it outrunning another truck. That's silly, because people who buy trucks don't race 'em. They use 'em to move loads, haul stuff. The speedometer in our F-150 only goes up to 100 MPH. Trucks aren't designed to be sports cars.

A Winston Cup race car has a lot of horsepower, but not a lot of torque compared to horsepower. That's why it takes it about 3 miles for it to reach top speed.

Chevy says that Car and Driver voted them as the best truck.

Hmmm...Out of all of the automobile magazines in the world, and they could only get ONE to say that they were the best? (The one they pay a lot of ad money to.) LOL

hehe. That sounds like my husband and his family. Won't have anything to do with a Ford.
I don't have a personal preference. I just want a nice car that will get me where i want to go without too many problems. And I want it to have a nice stereo..lol. Every car i've had that the stereo didn't work, i've wrecked it. No stereo=flipped car (for me anyway)..lol.

If you want to build your leg muscles and learn to hike buy a Chevy. If you would rather drive, buy a Ford. If you like to buy transmissions buy a Dodge.
