Ever since Happy Days *gardeners and hitchikers not included* the thumbs up has exuded a sense of positivity, control and calm if not cool. Before Siskel and Ebert, there was Arthur Fonzerelli flashing the thumb.
But what's worth noting is how Clinton co-opted the Fonz early on in his career of feel-good politicking. Clinton who thought he was cool, flashed the oppositional phalange with regularity on just about all occasions. But, there was a slight variant to this thumb-wielder compared to his predecessor the Fonz, Saint of Unadulterated Thumb. Chub, never fully extended his thumb. It was always uncertain. Kind of hunkered down by fist. All you saw was the final third of his thumb protruding from his balled-up hand. The final digit as seen here...

Notice the fully erect thumb in our current POTUS as compared to his predecessor's limp digit.
Now check out another 'Crat of Recall Fame and his trepid use of the Fonz...

Notice his recalicitrant thumb and the hesitancy with which he employs it. Where's the confident thumb thrust of say a guy like this(a no-name)?

Children, blue collar workers, teachers, businessmen, our very own sitting President all know how to flip the big finger with all the confidence that says "I have nothing to hide." "Here's my entire thumb", every digit exposed, fully erect and confident.
Can a thumb say something about a politician? Can it give us a psychology behind the thumb and the person who does it?
The Fonz is never referenced. He is only plagiarized. Even Chachi knew the hidden dangers of stunted thumb use. The kind of carpal tunnel one can achieve with chronic thumb suppression is a 'Crat syndrome only.
Would a deaf person, who's mastered ASL, trust a thumbs up from Bill Clinton or Gray Davis? Would you?
The uncertain thumb. As opposed to the confident, full deployment thereof. It speaks volumes. The 'Crats have something to hide. When someone lacks confidence they lack truth also.
