The Manchurian Candidate is apparently going to be remade. Why would they do that? The original was a classic.
Story here. (http://movies.yahoo.com/shop?d=hp&cf=prev&id=1808471890)

Because not many in Hollywood seem to have any sort of imagination any more.
cuz they wanna destroy good artwork thats why, then they can pat themselves on the back and call it a masterful rending of a classic and applaud themselves as being 'artistic' when it'll be nothing but garbage.
LOL am I getting close to the idea here?

In this new version:
- The first Gulf War is the jumping point, as opposed to the Korean War in the original movie (and book).
- Denzel Washington takes over Frank Sinatra's role
- Liev Schreiber takes over Laurence Harvey's role
- Meryl Streep takes over Angela Lansbury's role

There are some movies that should not be remade. The Manchurian Candidate is one of them.
What's next--a remake of Gone With the Wind?
