The object of this game is to figure out the FCer from the clues provided.
For example, the answer to
Famous Governor and Senator + a telephone + 1,000,000 sold
would be
Longhorn Platinum [Long (as in Huey Long) + Horn (slang for telephone) + Platinum (an album "goes platinum" when it sells 1,000,000 units) ]
Important: Numbers in an username are not used.
Anyway, here we go....
1. What might prompt an English teacher to say, "Didn't you really mean the sweet stuff?" + Andy, Roger, Peter, Paige, and Jason
2. A shortened laugh, perhaps + Verb meaning to carry by capillary action, with a slight change in pronunciation that might make Gerard smile + a votary
3. Half a Tolstoy tome + Famous cocker spaniel from 1955
4. Paul's favorite cry? + Radio station located in Nashville, but broadcast over the Internet
5. Another word for (sticky substance + ancient sun god + common suffix in geometry)
6. Period helper + It's the word + Salvation Army, abbreviated + Famous Hitchcock letter
7. Author of Things That Matter Most + The GIS at Camp LeJeune + Number 12 in ours
8. Charlotte's place + Pravda's domain name extension + Famous Sheffer
9. Makes a princess toss and turn + El. No 6 + what's so special about the latest TVs, abbreviated + Chaotician in a Crichton book + cable network
I'll do more of these in a week or so.

LOL, Rhino, yes, you got it first. I've just been responding to each person's answers individually, because I think each person is trying to solve the puzzle individually first, before looking at the other answers. I hope T-wolf hasn't been copying. (Just kidding, T-wolf) http://freeconservatives.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Oh, and you make a good point. There shouldn't have been a "The" in the title in # 7. I have removed it.

Ok, glad I got it. When I saw "shortened laugh," har-har and har-de-har came to mind. But so did giggle, chortle, chuckle, etc....
I cheated a bit and checked thesaurus to see the rest I missed:

beam, break up, burst, cachinnate, chortle, chuckle, convulse, crack up, crow, die, die laughing, fracture, giggle, grin, guffaw, hee-haw, howl, roar, scream, shout, shriek, simper, smile, smirk, snicker, snigger, snort, split, tehee, titter, whizgigging, whoop
[/ QUOTE ]
I ran these by dPrasse who said "What the hell is whizgigging? It sounds like a band peeing on stage!" http://freeconservatives.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/roar.gif
I finally decided it just HAD to be Harv. http://freeconservatives.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon16.gif
