I have always maintained that I am a "flaming liberal," and by the classical definition of Liberal, those of us on this board are all truly very liberal. We have permitted the hi-jacking of an honorable descriptive word which was then applied to Socialist ideology in the same manner that the homosexual community has hi-jacked the very pleasant word "GAY" and applied it to a life style that most of us consider to be sordid. Too often, we forget that words have specific meanings, and it is a serious failure on our part to permit distortions to the language, especially as the technique has been very successful in promoting positions diametrically opposed to that which the quasi literate mass believe they are supporting. Excepting B.L., Zell Miller and a very few others, today's democRATS are not democratic. This distortion of meaning is unintentionally accepted and furthered by no less than Hannity, Limbaugh, Novak, and many other conservative hosts and/or writers. I grit my teeth when I hear Ted Kennedy, Ted Turner and the party to which they belong referred to as democratic!
