Anyone know the lawyer for Hinckley who started that sheit? That kind of 'defense'.

I'm not sure what you mean by "Twinkie Defense".

The lawyer that reprsented John Hinckley Jr. was Vincent Fuller, and I believe that Fuller was the first lawyer to win an acquittal by reason of insanity for his client (John Hinckley Jr.)

He also represented Mike Tyson.

Vincent Fuller served as senior attorney for the defense in the John Hinckley trial. Hinckley's parents hired Fuller from the Washington D.C. based law firm of Williams and Connolly, a firm known for defending famous people in white collar criminal cases. Fuller's claim to fame came in 1982 when he won an acquittal by reason of insanity for his client, would-be presidential assassin John W. Hinckley, Jr. Since the Hinckley trial, Fuller has defended other noteworthy clients, including boxing promoter Don King and ear-biter Mike Tyson in his trial on charges of rape in 1992. His fee for defending Tyson was $5,000 per day, amounting to a grand total of 5 million dollars. His record is not unblemished, however. Although he successfully defended King against charges of tax fraud, his defense of Tyson resulted in a six-year jail sentence for the boxer. After the Tyson verdict, many critics claimed that Fuller inadequately defended Tyson because he failed to object to a piece of key prosecution evidence.

I thought he was one of the first to use an insanity defense. Or, as Hinkley admittedly said that he downed Twinkies breakfast lunch and dinner, THE first to try a temporary insanity defense due to sugar's influence. I think. Check me on that.

Okay, I found it.

You are interpolating two different cases, which used the same defense and provoked a similar public outcry.

Forensic psychiatrists are employed extensively in civil as well as criminal proceedings, testifying (for example) as to emotional harms resulting from medical malpractice and other forms of negligence. However, the public's image of the forensic psychiatrist tends to be formed on the basis of a small number of sensational murder (or attempted murder) cases in which criminal responsibility is at issue. Indeed, the recent crisis of confidence in forensic psychiatry occurred after the Hinckley verdict which itself followed in the wake of Dan White's successful claim of diminished capacity in the 1978 killing of San Francisco Mayor George Moscone and Supervisor Harvey Milk (the notorious <font color=#003399><u>"Twinkie Defense"</font></u>).

The public outcry over Hinckley's having "gotten off" was accompanied by a soul-searching at the highest levels of the psychiatric profession.

Makes sense to me that the same lawyer would represent two such sick idiots.

Twinkies and junk food? Most of America is operating on "demised capacity" if that is the case!
