2A stepped on the wrong toes, I guess. DF threw a coniption when he got his ass handed to him on the PA thread, so he moved it to Flame Wars.

03-15-2004, 08:54 PM
TWolf I am not going to allow you to get away with that lie. Any Administrator or Moderator has the call to move a thread if they feel it is heading to flame war status. After reading the thread I totally agree with Fox moving it. You need to stop this if not you then 2nd needs to put a stop to it now.
Timberwolf
03-15-2004, 09:23 PM
That thread was no where NEAR Flame Wars material and everyone on the board knows it. Someone took offense (not gonna name names, but I have my suspiscions...no, I'm not referring to DF, he wasn't involved with it at that point) to being disagreed with and it subsequently got moved. I've personally been involved in numerous "discussions" here that were FAR more heated than that...for FAR LONGER than that...before someone finally moved it.
2A PMd or emailed me with the "post in question" for the sole reason of making sure the post was SO generic and non-specific that NO ONE could possibly be offended by it. I told him that I saw nothing wrong with it, so if you gotta blame someone for the "offensive" post in question, BLAME ME. At the time, I couldn't believe that he'd ask something so ridiculous...besides, he was and Admin. I was wondering why the hell he'd be asking me. Now, I know why he did it...some here apparently have VERY thin skins.

Fox moved the thread because it was getting ugly. I don't understand this broo ha ha over moving a thread to FW. We do it all the time. It's up to the individual staff member who moves it to make that call. It doesn't have to be bloody to get moved there. It's not like it was deleted for God's sake. Did it ever occur to you that it was moved to FW's because the rules are more lax there??? Sheesh. Those of you who can't or won't move on need to move on if you know what I mean.

A discussion doesn't have to have turned into a testosterone battle in order to qualify for moving to Flame Wars. An Admin has every right to look at a thread and decide that it belongs in another forum, even if that forum is Flame Wars. A thread doesn't have to have reached the same intensity that other threads have reached before they were moved. If an Admin feels that it is likely that a thread will descend to that level, they can move it as a pre-emptive messure. Admins are not the only ones that can make this decision, any Moderator of the forum where the thread is can do it.
FW isn't just for threads that have degenerated into a pissing match, it is a forum where the rules are discarded and people can be more expressive. It is also a forum where we have isolated disruptive trolls (like sistersue). There that have been some members that only open their threads in FW even though there was nothing about those threads that would considered to be "Flame Wars material" but they have not been moved out of there.
Given the strong feelings on all sides of the issue, that thread qualified for movement to Flame Wars after the initial post. DF had the right to move it without being accused of trying to hide part of the discussion.

I find this interesting. All of the talk is about feelings...whatever happened to what people THINK?? I thought that we conservatives railed against feelings in favor of rational thought.
That was my whole point...someone got their feelings hurt and that was the impetus for what happened.
But, we gotta move on...gosh, where have I heard THAT one before??

Sorry, but the courts have ruled that taping a TV show for personal use is not a violation of the law. In fact, when you buy a blank tape, part of the price includes a fee that is distributed among the various copyright holders to compensate them for that. The same is true for blank audio tape.
Then why dont they do the same with Blank CD-R's for? instead of RIAA goin ape-nerts on everyone like a buncha money-grubbin hard-nosed weenies?

My vote goes to Leghorn, because of his famous oratorical skills.
- Clunk enough people and we'll have a nation of lumpheads.
- Nice girl, but about as sharp as a sack of wet mice.
- That woman's as cold as a nudist on an iceberg.
- She reminds me of Paul Revere's ride - a little light in the belfry.
- Gal reminds me of the highway between Ft. Worth and Dallas - no curves.
- As bare as a cooch dancer's midriff.
- Boy's like a dead horse - got no get up and go...
- Hey boy, you cover about as much as a flapper's skirt in a high wind.
- She's tryin' to make a pantywaist out of that poor kid.
- That kid's about as sharp as a pound of wet liver.
- If kid don't stop talkin' so much he'll get his tongue sunburned.
- Well, barbeque my hamhocks!
- That dog's as subtle as a hand grenade in a barrel of oat meal.
- That boy's as strong as an ox, and just about as smart.
- Look sister, is any of this filtering through that little blue bonnet of yours?
- You're doing a lot of choppin', but no chips are flyin'.
- The boy's about as sharp as a bowling ball.
- I've got this boy as fidgety as a bubble dancer with a slow leak.
- You look like two miles of bad road
- That boy's just like a tattoo...gets under your skin
- This is gonna cause more confusion than a mouse in a burlesque show!
- I know what you're gonna say son. When two halves is gone there's nuthin' left - and you're right. It's a little ol' worm who wasn't there. Two nuthins is nuthin'. That's mathematics son. You can argue with me but you can't argue with figures. Two half nuthins is a whole nuthin'.
