The commonality in most personal web pages is that they suck like an Oreck XL the size of a bus. However, that's the charm of the personal space on the web. There's no professional standard to meet.
Compared to some I've seen that one isn't bad. There are some with garish backgrounds that make the text on the page all but illegible, and the fonts look like ransom notes. And, so what? It's the personal expression of the owner of the page or site, and he/she can say, "I did that!" and get wows from family and friends.
Surf around in Geocities or Tripod or Angelfire. There are some true Suckmasters there.
Here's a site that I visit on occasion whenever I encounter (or want to see) a supposedly professional web page that is big-time bad.
