McKinney apologizes to Saudi for snub in N.Y.
Melanie Eversley - Cox Washington Bureau
Sunday, October 14, 2001
Washington --- A Georgia congresswoman has stepped into the fray over New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani's refusal of a $10 million gift for the families of victims of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
Rep. Cynthia McKinney, a Democrat, wrote a letter of apology to spurned donor Prince Alwaleed bin Talal of Saudi Arabia. McKinney wrote that she regretted Giuliani had turned down the offer over the prince's suggestion that U.S. policy in the Middle East was partly to blame for the attacks.
McKinney's letter, dated Friday and addressed to the Saudi Embassy in Washington, said Giuliani should recognize bin Talal's right to offer observations on developments in the Middle East.
"Whether he agreed with you or not," McKinney said, "I think he should have recognized your right to speak and make observations about a part of the world which you know so well."
........
A representative for one national Jewish advocacy organization said Saturday that McKinney may have been misguided in writing the letter.
"I think that she just misses the point entirely that Giuliani was seeking to address," said Jess Hordes, Washington director of the Anti-Defamation League.
"I think the donation became an issue because he [bin Talal\] tied the money to a suggestion that somehow we might be to blame for the terrorist action that took the lives of 5,000 Americans," Hordes continued. "That is an irresponsible and wrongheaded statement."

How do they function? How do they look at themselves in the mirror? Why does anyone vote for them?

The Saudi's are not our friends. They don't cooperate when their extemists bomb our soldiers. They haven't frozen Bin Laden's assets and even though the Prince had a right to speak his mind it was tacky. They sure didn't mind us saving their butts when Saddam was knocking on their door.

How on earth could any American, let alone an ELECTED OFFICIAL, send such a letter? Rudy did the right thing and up until now I had not heard of ANYONE disagreeing with his actions. Lets hope that the people of Georgia remember this come election time. We do not need Muslim sympathizers among our elected officials.

The one who won't say the pledge is Assemblywoman Henri Brooks, a black Memphis 'rat in TN's state legislature.
The one who communed with Chandra is Assemblywoman Dorothy Pelote, a black Savannah 'rat in GA's state legislature.
McKinney is the black activist in the U.S. House of Representatives (D-GA) who screamed racism because her district got re-apportioned by the GA state legislature as a result of a Supreme Court ruling that found that districting based solely on racial distribution of population was unconstitutional. Thus, she was objecting to a clear policy of equality. Her new district, just east of Atlanta and including DeKalb County where some of the wealthiest blacks in America reside, then encompassed more whites which she claimed would cause her to lose the election. In fact, she got re-elected anyway. She's still bitching about it.
She's from the Julianne Malveaux school of convoluted whining, racist rhetoric, insults and general ingratitude, and she exists in holy servitude to the black 'gimme' branch of the 'rat party. It's all she cares about, and hustling bidness to do more for blacks is her specialty, along with her pro-Pan-Africa positions.

You're welcome.
Everyone should keep in mind that black activists are Muslim sympathizers at the least, rhetorical expressions of loyalty and support for the U.S. notwithstanding. They get a double-bonus on their 'hate America' and 'American oppression' mantras through those sympathies. Some are actual members of various pro-black Islamic groups, such as the Nation of Islam and the New Black Panther Party.
Actions speak louder than words.
Heh-heh, as Wolf would say.
...and to think, these types get a Congressional pension when they finally get voted out of office...

Did anyone catch The O'reilly Factor last evening? He interviewed Mfume who was for the most part gracious for a change claiming that the NAACP is behind President Bush in this endeavor.
What I found QUITE COMICAL was the results of a poll whose results showed that 71% of black Americans believe that the US should be racially profiling Muslims. LOL O'reilly was quick to point out the hypocracy of this all. The head of the ACLU stated that black Americans are like all Americans, they wish to be safe. Some other jamoke who I believe was in NY and linked to the Black Panther Party was basically saying the same thing.
Well Oreilly proclaimed, isn't that what EVERYONE wants when they racially profile? LOL Good point. It was rather amusing watching both of these morons backstep and try to avoid the OBVIOUS fact that when they are NOT the target of racial profiling they give it the thumbs up. Seems to me that they are saying what EVERYONE ELSE has been saying, you profile BECAUSE those people are more apt to commit the crime. Gee what a concept!

There are always a few rotten apples, but the dirty democrats are way WAY WAYYY off the chart for these kinds of things. If we had a REAL declaration of war we could be talking treason. What ever we have now must not be sufficient to be called a real declaration of war complete with engagement of the treason clause of the Constitution. Geee, pretty sad, IMHO.

Raven, the other jamoke was Ken Hamblin, a righty and a damn sharp guy.
Hamblin was saying that the poll result is not surprising because there are far more blacks who are not supportive of the groups crying racism and racial profiling (every time a black is arrested) at every turn, without any consideration of the fact that an offense has been committed, but just aren't heard from. Thus, Hamblin's point was that black Americans want to be safe just as much as white Americans do and the poll doesn't necessarily indicate hypocrisy because, in the first place, mainstream black Americans aren't supporters of the race whores playing the race card every five minutes.
Frizzell 'Pee-Wee' Gray (AKA: Kweisi Mfume) begrudged the hesitant support he stated for Dubya and also had to admit the poll indicated some disparity of thought, but excused that by claiming that the poll participants will soon come to their senses once the shock and fear stemming from the attacks wears off, or words to that effect. Gray (Mfume) refused to address Hamblin's point that mainstream black Americans aren't trembling in their Nikes every time they see a police cruiser because Hamblin's position is a direct assault on Gray's and the other race whores' stock-in-trade.
It was funny, and Hamblin's and O'Reilly's separate but telling points made Gray uncomfortable, which explained his reticence, vague support and lack of usual shrillness. Either O'Reilly is right and black Americans are hypocrits, or Hamblin is right and black Americans don't support the race whores' claim that arresting black suspects is profiling. Either way, Mfume loses the debate. He was not arguing from a position of strength, to say the least. LOL! It was checkmate of the black 'King' ('Mfume' is a west African word for 'king' or 'king's son'). images/icons/tongue.gif

Back to the original article:
"Whether he agreed with you or not," McKinney said, "I think he should have recognized your right to speak and make observations about a part of the world which you know so well."
Say what? What has "right to speak" got to do with anything? The Saudi Prince DID speak and did "make observations about a part of the world" that he knows so well.

About McKinney's statement that you cite, maybe she meant that since the prince handed over such a princely sum he bought the right to speak at all? If so, then it follows through the use of McKinney's logic that returning the money negates his words in the form of a big-time, "Shutup, Asshole!"
McKinney is what leaving districting to state legislatures gives us.

Here is the letter send to the Saudi prince. My comments are in bold.
REP. MCKINNEY'S LETTER TO PRINCE ALWALEED (http://english.planetarabia.com/content/article.cfm/103300/108036/)
October 12, 2001
His Royal Highness Prince Alwaleed bin Talal
Embassy of Saudi Arabia
601 New Hampshire Avenue, NW
Washington, DC 20037
I would like to take just a moment to thank you for your recent demonstration of empathy with those suffering from the devastating and heinous September 11 attacks on the United States Pentagon and the World Trade Center. I would especially like to thank you for your most generous offer of $10 million to assist those Americans in need as a result of those attacks.
I was disappointed that Mayor Giuliani chose to decline your generous offer and instead criticize you for your observations of events in the Middle East. Whether he agreed with you or not I think he should have recognized your right to speak and make observations about a part of the world which you know so well. I think Mayor Giuliani would do well to listen to the words of one of our greatest Americans, former Senator Robert Kennedy. In 1968 he said that America "is a great nation and a strong people. Any who seek to comfort rather than to speak plainly, reassure rather than instruct, promise satisfaction rather than reveal frustration--they deny that greatness and drain that strength. For today as it was in the beginning, it is the truth that makes us free." I believe Senator Robert Kennedy's remarks remain as inspirational and true today as when he first spoke them over 30 years ago. (If she believe that "it is the truth that makes us free," then why is the rest of her letter filled with lies?)
Let me say that there are a growing number of people in the United States who recognize, like you, that US policy in the Middle East needs serious examination. Indeed, on the same day that you made your remarks about US policy in the Middle East, the Chairman of the House International Relations Committee, The Honorable Henry Hyde, spoke on National Public Radio and said, "There's no question in my mind that the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is the most important issue in dispute, and has generated a lot of the animosity towards us because of our unwavering support for Israel, which will remain in place."
At the same time, CNN played an interview with former National Security Advisor Zbigniew Brzezinski who stated that America must "deal with some of the issues that animate the hostility" against us, like "the treatment of the population of Iraq" and that "the Israelis are stronger, so they're naturally inflicting much more casualties than the Palestinians on the Israelis and that produces frustration and rage."
Your Royal Highness, many of us here in the United States have long been concerned about reports by Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch that reveal a pattern of excessive, and often indiscriminate, use of lethal force by Israeli security forces in situations where Palestinian demonstrators were unarmed and posed no threat of death or serious injury to the security forces or to others. Israeli peace organizations like B'Tselem accuse the Israeli Defense Forces of violating the most fundamental rules of international law in committing atrocities against Palestinians.
The Israeli Gush Shalom boldly states that "Israeli occupation of the West Bank and Gaza Strip is the root cause of the violence and hatred. As long as the occupation continues, bloodshed will continue and increase." Indeed, Your Royal Highness, all people of good conscience understand that this kind of mistreatment breeds a hotbed of anger and despair that destabilizes peace in the Middle East and elsewhere. Until we confront the realities of events in the Middle East our nation and the nations of the Middle East will be at risk.
Your Royal Highness, there are many people in America who desperately need your generosity. People who have been locked out, marginalized from America's mainstream. All of those people are poor and too many of them are people of color. A black baby boy born in Harlem today has less chance of reaching age 65 than a baby born in Bangladesh. (This is only true because of the shear numbers of blacks in Harlem that die in gang violence and other criminal activities. It is the liberal's Great Society that has caused this.) Your Royal Highness, the state of black America is not good.
It is painfully visible in Washington D.C., where, just a few hundred yards from the White House, one can find black man after black man huddled in bus shelters, doorways, over subway ventilation shafts, sleeping on the street, thrown away like trash. (I sincerely doubt that this picture is accurate. If it is, why hasn't pressure been put on the D.C. city government to rectify the problem? If they need help figuring out how to do it, tell them to call Rudy.) Ironically, many of them are Vietnam veterans who, having served this nation with distinction in Vietnam, now find themselves without adequate care and accommodation. Unfortunately, this same scene is repeated in each and every one of our major cities here in the United States.
I am ashamed to say that my home city of Atlanta is no exception. Just last night my son was out with members of Atlanta's Muslim community who, for years, have been feeding Atlanta's homeless. Sadly, no one in mainstream Atlanta knows about the tireless and generous work of the local Muslim community. But the poor know, and I guess at one level that's all that matters. But on a broader view mainstream America should know.
The Justice Department admits that blacks are more likely than whites to be pulled over by police, imprisoned, and put to death. And, though blacks and whites have about the same rate of drug use, blacks are more likely to be arrested than whites and are more likely to receive longer prison sentences than whites (Except that blacks are more likely to be drug dealers and users of harder drugs like crack and heroin). Incredibly, 80% of people in prison in the United States are people of color. (Idiots like this one and the NAACP try to say the poor economic conditions in the black community engender a sense of dispair amongst blacks resulting in them turning to crime. If this is true, then it follows that more blacks would be committing crimes than white and would result in blacks being sentensed to prison at a higher rate than whites. So what is? Poor conditions driving blacks to crime or a racist judicial system imprisoning blacks at a higher rate? You can't have it both ways.)
Twenty-six black men were executed last year, some probably innocent (There is no proof of this.); America began 2001 by executing a retarded black woman.
Government studies on health disparities confirm that blacks are less likely to receive surgery, transplants, and prescription drugs than whites. Physicians are less likely to prescribe appropriate treatment for blacks than for whites and black scientists, physicians, and institutions are shut out of the funding stream to prevent all this.
I serve in Congress where the Black Caucus is shrinking. Yet, sections of the Voting Rights Act will soon expire, and quite frankly, after crippling Court decisions, there is not much left of affirmative action to mend. (This is not a bad thing. Affermative action is wrong.)
In the FBI's own words, its counterintelligence program (COINTELPRO) had as a goal, "to expose, disrupt, misdirect, discredit, or otherwise neutralize" the activities of black organizations and to prevent black "leaders from gaining respectability." (Notice that she chose to add her own words to make these statements sound like a deliberate effort to suppress blacks)
And instead of real leaders, COINTELPRO offers us hand-picked "court priests" who are more loyal to the plan than to the people. Court priests who preach peace, peace when there is no peace.
As you can see, the statistics are very grim for Black America. Although your offer was not accepted by Mayor Giuliani, I would like to ask you to consider assisting Americans who are in dire need right now. I believe we can guide your generosity to help improve the state of Black America and build better lives. (Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!) My office can provide you with a list of charities (Is Jesse Jackson and P.U.S.H. at the top of her list? Do we really need to ask?) who labor under the most difficult circumstances to try and improve the lives of the people they serve. I hope you will consider reaching out to our charities and to our people who are in need. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions you may have.
Sincerely,
Cynthia McKinney
