Applaud Everyone who refuses to vote for McCain ought to read this

    http://www.townhall.com/Columnists/T...ama_and_mccain

Now that the two parties have finally selected their presidential candidates, it is time for a sober-- if not grim-- assessment of where we are.

Not since 1972 have we been presented with two such painfully inadequate candidates. When election day came that year, I could not bring myself to vote for either George McGovern or Richard Nixon. I stayed home.

This year, none of us has that luxury. While all sorts of gushing is going on in the media, and posturing is going on in politics, the biggest national sponsor of terrorism in the world-- Iran-- is moving step by step toward building a nuclear bomb.

The point when they get that bomb will be the point of no return. Iran's nuclear bomb will be the terrorists' nuclear bomb-- and they can make 9/11 look like child's play.

All the options that are on the table right now will be swept off the table forever. Our choices will be to give in to whatever the terrorists demand-- however outrageous those demands might be-- or to risk seeing American cities start disappearing in radioactive mushroom clouds.
"No statement is more unnecessary than the statement that the government should 'do something' about some issue. Politicians are going to 'do something,' whether or not something needs to be done, and regardless of whether what they do makes matters better or worse. All their incentives are to keep themselves in the public eye." - Thomas Sowell

    Yup.

I don't like the choices any more than anyone else. However, sober reflection on November 4, 2008 leads to the realization that Osama Obama is a racist, America-loathing traitor who is supported by terrorist groups worldwide, and who would sell this country out to them in a heartbeat. I for one do not want that son of a bitch in the White House, even if it means 4 years of McCain.

But, to each his own. Give B. HUSSEIN Obama the tacit approval, and hope that you'll be spared when the shit hits the fan.

I think you are going to see the fear mongering card played over and over by the GOP in this race. It's more than obvious that McCain would be a much better Commander in Chief in the GWOT. Where McCain needs to separate himself is the abortion issue, 2A issue and energy issue. Listening to him yesterday at his town hall meeting he was promoting domestic drilling and nuclear energy. THIS is where he needs to get his message out. The GWOT fear mongering card has been way over played and people are getting tired of it.

We cannot stop Iran from building a nuclear bomb and giving terrorists their new toy. Any attempt to stop Iran will be met with the moonbat's crying "It's another Iraq, we can't attack a country that has done us no wrong." Therefore, we will have to allow that wrong to occur before we do anything at all. No matter WHO is president. If McCain said anything, it would be "See we told you this would be Bush's third term. See he's a war monger. Flawed intelligence again. There are no WMDs, no blood for oil." The American people should internalize the fact that we will have to lose one or even more cities before it's even possible to consider self-defense.

What happens after those initial attacks is or should be the primary focus. Democrats don't believe we can win any war. Brain damaged Teddy Kennedy stood up in the halls of the Senate and proclaimed Iraq a war that we could not win to acclaim from other democrats. If we cannot win against a few guys with antiquated guns hiding behind sand dunes, we could not win against a nation armed with nuclear weapons. That's the message our president would give us, or not if obamination doesn't get elected.

I'm finding it increasingly difficult to be amongst the right-wingers who cares.
The way I see it, if Iran-sponsored terrorists light off a nuke in the US, it will be in a city where mostly libtards will be zapped into dust. They are the ones at risk - not me. They are the ones who hobble our efforts to fight terrorists at every turn. They are apologists for terrorsts and condemners against those who defend them.
I am increasingly coming to the conclusion that trying to defend those who hate my guts much worse than they do terrorists is futile.
Besides, in the right cities the vaporization of lefties could turn any number of states into solid red states.

There is that consideration. In some cities it would be urban renewal and pest control combined.

I in my rural western MA town won't be targeted. All I hope is that the target city will be far enough south that the fallout will not go this far north, or far enough west that it will have dissipated by the time it gets here.

If LA, NYC, or Miami is the target, most of the victims won't even be American citizens. A plurality probably won't even be in the country legally.

Thomas Sowell is spot on, as usual.

Bottom line: If we have any hope at all or the future of our great nation, especially for the futures of our children and grandchildren, we have no choice but to hold our noses and vote for McCain.

I realize that, Rb.. But the GOP has been playing this card for 8 years now and it's getting old. They are starting to sound like a one trick pony. The GOP, at least the party I grew up in, is much more multi-dimensional than just National Security. This isn't rocket science, at least not for some. But if the GOP wants to convince voters to vote for them they have got to do better than to scare the hell out of them.

I see the very same thing in religion. You have preachers that try to scare people into salvation by promising hell to those who don't follow them. And you have preachers who remind you of just what a loving God we have and there is more to Christianity than NOT going to hell.

The difference between McCain and Obama in the GWOT is STRIKING. It's the other issues that are being ignored, such as abortion, 2A and energy. That is why I'm voting for him!

I read it. It did nothing to change my mind. The concept still relies on the principle of not voting for who or what you are for, but who or what you are against. It assumes that all are obligated to vote for whomever the party nominates, no matter how strongly you are opposed to them. This gives tacit approval to the notion that the party can nominate whomever they want, no matter how centrist or liberal, and they are still pretty much guaranteed votes. That removes all motivation for the party to champion candidates who appeal to the conservative base, and is tantamount to a guarantee that conservatism is doomed within the Republican party. I refuse to be a party to that.

I do like one thing Sowell said though...

We are much like people drifting down the Niagara River, oblivious to the waterfalls up ahead. Once we go over those falls, we cannot come back up again.
We are indeed like those people. But the waterfall is the death of conservatism within our party. And like Sowell said, once we go over those falls, we cannot come back up again.

I don't think we have a rope available, and a snake still gives the same result. I prefer to remain on shore until somebody actually provides such a rope.

But Rhino, we are not on shore! We are all going down the river towards the falls. Some are choosing to swim, some are not, but the result is still going to be the same for all of us, regardless of the amount of effort exerted. If we don't at least try to tread water, the outcome is inevitable, and I am not ready for that outcome.

Oh yes, we'll have a future with McCain...

A future of slow-roasting on the Socialist fire...

A future with millions of illegal invaders given a pat on the back and the fast lane to citizenship without ever intending to become Americans in their hearts, dedicated to our Constitution, and abandoning the country of their birth... A future living with millions of NON-American Parasites sucking the life out of this nation...

A future where our grandchildren will not be learning about the great American patriots who created this country - Where Cinco de Mayo replaces the Fourth of July...

A future with a President who, as a Senator only one year ago, tried to slip the Amnesty Betrayal Bill thru the Senate literally in the dark of night, without floor debate, and without the knowlege of the American people... This is the bastard you want to give the Whitehouse to...

A future where gasoline prices continue to rise because McCain has already gotten in bed with Al Gore and the Enviro-Nazis - With a man who only recently paid lip service to new drilling when his stated policy throughout this campaign is that under no circumstances will he allow drilling in ANWR or the Gulf of Mexico - A policy where he believes we can run all our cars on corn - Which in itself is not just a wink in the direction of the Enviro-nazis but a BIG kickback to his "collegues" in the big midwestern farm states who are pushing hard for the US Government to artificially force America into using ethanol thus turning their farm states into our new oil fields - regardless of the cost and inefficiencies of ethanol production, not to mention the effects on food supplies... Same old song - Just follow the money...

I am very fond of all of you, including those I disagree with here, but hear me now - This man is a conman and yall are running scared and are trying desperately to convince yourselves that McCain is a clear and better choice from the Democrat...

McCain IS a Democrat - he has been for years... How many times on this very forum have we, in our outrage at some betrayal on his part, suggested that he go ahead and switch parties... And yet today, the Leftist mole has stolen our nomination, and some here in their fear and desperation over the Socialist revolution we are poised to experience, are trying to convince themselves that McCain will be the savior of our future - Only with this Leftist Republican traitorous thug can we see a bright new tomorrow for our children...

Have you forgotten the Gang of 14? Will yall sing Lindsay Graham's praises when he's McCain's VP? Or Joe Lieberman? Or Crist?

The Republican party has abandoned us, Brothers, and Sisters... THEY HAVE ABANDONED US...! WE who, under Reagan's blessed leadership, raised that party out of the dark and handed them both houses of Congress and the Presidency... They squandered the opportunities we gave them and now they think the answer is to abandon the Right and compete with the Dems for the Left side of politics...

I am FINISHED with this party of FOOLS and CONMEN... I am not a RINO... I am not a Country Club Republican... I am a Conservative American Patriot who believes in the Constitution first, last, and always... And I will NOT vote for any party that has abandoned that document and the America it created just because they once represented my beliefs...

Vote the way you will, but I will NOT be forced to choose between Stalin and Hitler - I will have no part in the destruction of this nation - They can do it without me...

We have already lost this election... Some of us already know this - Some of us have yet to realize it - But you will... Emperor McCain will drive that point into your skulls like a steel spike...

What Sowell advocates is not treading water. It's going over the falls, from which there is no return. As I said earlier, the falls to me are just different from what he imagines.

EDIT:I'm more than happy to tread water waiting for a conservative candidate, but I have no intention of going over the falls by giving the party the go ahead to abandon conservatism by giving them guaranteed votes no matter who they run and how liberal they may be. As I've said before, I would have absolutely no problem with being proven wrong in this regard, but I think that's definitely the path we're on.

Well if we're gonna run with the river analogy, Obama and McCain are both working the oars, and rowing as fast as possible toward the Falls... McCain isn't the solution - He's a BIG and WILLING participant in the problem...
