Let's take the philosophical temperature of the board membership as of today... The question is a simple one - Do you intend to vote for McCain in November or not... I am not adding all the permutations of different options... Everyone has their reasons for or against - I'm just looking for the basic answer... Just a snapshot of the philosophical climate here today... Then maybe we'll check again later in the campaign season...

Its not necessary to defend your position here today or even personally identify your position... This is not meant to be thread to beat your personal drum or campaign for your position... Its just a simple head count to determine the mood among Conservatives...

BTW if you are a Liberal and intend to support the Democrat Candidate, please refrain from voting - This is a Gauge of Conservative thought only... Let's not skew the results with non-Conservative philosophies...

So will you vote for McCain in November?

I can't vote, but if I could, I wouldn't waste it on McCain.

I'd vote for McCain, I've got more faith in my country than in my party. What's more important to you?

I don't see myself voting for McCain. I can understand liberals acting like liberals. But I don't forgive conservatives acting like liberals. McCain is too fond of acting like a liberal for my peace of mind.
Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom, to understand a liberal; love, to forgive him; and patience, to put up with his idiocies. Because, Lord, if I pray for strength, I'll just beat him to death.

Taylor, this election is like choosing between a fat hooker with AIDS and a car ride with Ted Kennedy. Either way, you're still screwed.

    Vote

I won't vote for McCain but I will vote against Bammy. Which is a mccain vote. Third party is a vote for Bammy. I'm still trying to get to the point that I can say I'll vote for mccain without feeling ill.

It's strange, I'll vote for mccain to stop bammy but part of me hopes mccain loses.

Since I probably won't be in a swing state, my vote won't matter. I'll either vote for McCain or write in "None of the Above" or find a tolerable third-party candidate.

McCain / Obama ... why don't they just promise that whoever wins, the other guy will be VP. Or what about a co-presidency? Both these parties stand for the same thing and are running in the same direction. Why don't we insist that they stop pretending to be so different?

I'm seeing an interesting trend forming up here...
...when Napoleon lay on his deathbed, defeated and forlorn, his last words were "they expected me to be another Washington." It was as if the people of France had asked for the impossible—how could anyone possibly live up to Washington’s standards?

I'm trying desperately to NOT insert my own opinions on this thread since I'm hoping we'll get a few more votes before the polls close... Then I'll comment on an intetresting trend I see forming up here...

I have to vote McCain. It is the only way I see to keep the nightmare of Obama out. McCain has respect for the military, and there is at least a CHANCE he will put someone on the Supreme Court that I can live with. The other option, the communist wannabe, the Hollow Man, the Race Baiter, is completely untenable.

No he is not getting my vote. I will be voting to those who will support conservative issues and that is not McCain. Obama is the most likely winner and to focus so much attention on McCain instead of putting up lawn signs and going door to door for who you think will counter Obama's cabnet of hate is another example of how conservatives shoot themselves in the foot trying to capture a top spot on the popularity charts. McCain would be the most unpopular President since George Bush and the phony conservatives who feed off of the polls would be the first to start noticing his alzheimer's side effects or whatever it is the outlaw-left would label him if he did win. We need a strong Congress if their is any hope of turning this mess around and McCain as President isn't the guy who help with that.

I've got a feeling that the left wouldn't be too disappointed if Johnny McPain won come this November. Not as disappointed as we conservatives are that no matter who wins..............WE'RE F**KED!!!! AMERICA IS F**KED!!!
Political correctness is a doctrine fostered by a delusional liberal minority and by the mainstream media which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

"The men who crafted the Constitution must be doing wheelies in their graves. To the eighteenth-century mind in the Age of Reason, an American government obsessed with controlling every aspect of individual existence with its hands in every pocket up to its national armpits, would be a greater source of terror than the atom bomb. Had they known, the Bill of Rights would not have ended with ten amendments. It would be a perpetual work in progress with periodic political lynchings made part of the fabric of government." - Steve Martini, Author - Shadow of Power

Its good to see you again, Jack... Thought you fell off the world...

Well this thread seems to be losing steam, but it was an interesting experiment - Thanks to everyone who participated... We should note the results today and then check them again in a couple of months - Like sometime near Labor Day... In that amount of time any number of things can happen that can sway opinions either way... We should know who the VP candidates are by then, too...

I have noted that those who support McCain fall into 2 or 3 different catagories for various reasons... Some are loyal believers in the Republican Party... Some are single issue voters who believe McCain is their champion... But the interesting group are those who are very unhappy with and distrustful of McCain as their choice, but feel obliged to vote for him from fear or hatred of Obama...

As with all elections that last group is the one that determines the winner, because a slight change in conditions can swing those votes...
